For the record ... The Bucs had the 4th best pass defense in the NFL last year in passing yards allowed. 6th best in the NFL in QB rating allowed. Tied for 3rd best in the NFL in defensive interceptions.

Favre shouldn't have his greatness spoken of in the same sentence as Romo.

When Tony wins some games in January and suddenly grows a cannon, then its appropriate.

Congrats on Quinn only needing a mere 35 pass attempts to crack the ever elusive 200 yard marker today.

You were right. This guy has got "it" .. and the Cleveland offense looked like they stepped in "it" all day.

Since everyone wanted to jump in and bash me on the game thread I figured I might as well start an actual thread to give the zone another chance to do the same, or perhaps a chance to see what I was saying.

I'll be the first to tell you Romo had a great game today. He is the best QB here since Aikman.

I do not believe that Romo has it in him to take this team to a super bowl.

I do believe that Romo will have GREAT games, make Great plays, win lots of games and take us to he playoffs.

The only problem is I see Romo making the same mistakes over and over again and at critical times during the game. Turning the ball over in the redzone, throwing deep ball picks (hey they are as good as a punt right?), throwing the ball into triple coverage...those types of things. He made some of those same mistakes in today's game early in the first half. Which is what led to my original statement. It just does not seem to me that he has been able to take some of these mistakes out of his game.

I know all QBs are going to make these types of mistakes, but Romo seems to make them at critical times (ie. the big December Games and the playoffs). Most of the QBs who take their team to a Super Bowl don't do this.

Now...could Romo take the Patriots to a Super Bowl, probably. Are there many QBs who could take this team to a Super Bowl, probably not. But in order for this team to go to a super bowl Romo needs to take out these mistakes and step it up one more level (the top level of QBs, I would say only P Manning, Brady, and maybe one or two more are better). This team is not solid enough for Romo to be making those types of mistakes and get into a super bowl.

Sure Romo is going to have games like today, and I loved his game today, fun to watch, games like he had against TB on thanksgiving a few years back, but he is also going to have games like he did against Philly last year, against NY two years ago, games like Buffalo 2007, Games like Cinci last year....

To me (and I am not the first to make this comparison so I don't know why today I get bashed for saying it) Romo is Danny White, he will have great stats, he will have great games, he will set records, he just does not have quiet what it takes to get THIS team to a Superbowl. A lot of you are right though, there are no better options, because 1) he is pretty dang good most of the time and 2) better QBs are rare and hard to find. So IMO, we stick with him and just hope that we can improve the team around him.

So, I hope I am wrong. I am not a troll, I have no agenda, I don't think I am overly pessimistic on most things (though maybe I am). I have been a Cowboys fan since I was born. I have not missed a Cowboys game in years. I look foward to the game all week, and I always hope for nothing for the best for the team and the players. Shoot, I even have an autographed picture of Tony Romo playing against Carolina his first full game, framed and hanging in my living room. I hope I am wrong, but as of right now, I don't think he has what it will take to take this team to a Superbowl.

...i feel you my friend but you're picking the wrong day to bash a quarterback who set a record for passing yards with 3 td passes and no interceptions...iirc only Peyton and Tony have passer ratings over 90 over the past three consecutive seasons...the guy has the goods, he can make all the throws...once Tony grasps all the mental aspects of the game perhaps he'll take the final step but Peyton was far from perfect today and his team suffered because of it, though ultimately prevailing...

...i'm sure there'll be plenty of opportunities over the coming weeks to bash the poor lad (myself included) for his misdeeds but i can't nitpick him today...he went into a hostile environment and helped his team put away a motivated Bucs team in convincing fashion...i'll leave it there...
