Irving, Collins, Tapper, DLaw, and Taco all have war daddy potential. Some people are just not patient to allow player development to happen. Luckily the Cowboys are comfortable with it.

I'm really looking forward to it now with Jaylon, Awuzie, and an improved DL.

Blitzing the heck out of a top-flight QB is a surefire way to get torched. If you don't have the horses to get home on a four-man rush then you're better off dropping into coverage and eliminating as many routes as possible. Plus, the more selective you are with a blitz, the better chance of catching a team off guard and it actually getting home. I'd be curious where Atlanta and New England rank in blitzing - I'm guessing it's near the bottom of the league along with Dallas.

The scheme wasn't at fault for the fluke play from Rodgers to Cook. That was a breakdown by the personnel. Depending on your vantage point either Carr wasn't where he was supposed to be or Jones didn't secure his zone properly.

And the 3-2-6 isn't necessarily a prevent defense. But it can be adjusted to act as one.

Gotcha but that still doesn't change the fact that Marinelli is going to drop both LB's most of the time. He might send an occasional LB, but most of the time he rushes 3 and drops 8.

If you want to talk in hypothetically and talk about what some other defensive coordinator might do, then that's fine but it isn't going to happen. That hypothetical situation is why I said I'd rather send Jaylon Smith than Watt. If that is the case then you'd have Watt dropping into coverage which would be insane.

Basically, Lee is way, WAY better in coverage than Watt and, IMO, Smith is better getting after the QB. So... Watt would be silly, even in that scenario.

In the real world, Watt didn't fit this defense at all.

so lee is better in coverage.
but his blitzing is not good.
rather have a LB that is better at pressure than coverage.
if you read the earlier posts in the thread, this is for 3 and long.
if the pressure works in 3 possessions, that would be worth the investment given the offense.
jaylon looks like he can pressure, but having lee makes the pressure come from 1 player instead of 2 real threats.

who said not to develop irving, collins and tapper.
though you just want to sweep the tapper's back condition and dlaw's 2 back surgeries under the rug.
if dlaw plays like last year in tc, he should be cut.

i think many of us feel that way.
watt as a blitzing LB would make sense instead of trying to force him into being a RDE.
that is probably what ruined ware in the first place.
There is a lot of truth here. The beating DL take is brutal. I always believed Ware was a better LB than DE.
