Many of the local media are at TC and the radio shows broadcast from there. They tend to have good info that does not always make it to articles/blogs.

McFadden really wants to return to practice but Stephen Jones prefers to keep him on the PUP until he is 110%. It appears that Stephen and front office types are holding McFadden out while some coaches are pushing to get him back on the field.

Randle didn't show up for a scheduled interview. They teased the upcoming interview with Randle for several segments and then Randle didn't show.

As the Cowboys flagship station, guys from the Fan have access to the practice video (the coaches video, not the stuff that we get to see) and a guy that spends a lot of time studying it had some good observations. He said Collins needs work and that Leary is a beast. The chance of Collins beating out Leary is very near zero in his opinion. He said the praise that you hear about Tyrone Crawford in not hype and that Crawford looks terrific.

great stuff, thanks for sharing. I think the coach's/trainer's opinion on DMF should trump Jone's every day of the week. And I believe the production we're gonna get from Randle/DMF/Dunbar is going to pleasantly surprise many around these parts and soon become a concern to other teams.

I'm drooling for NFL and come next Thursday, we'll have Cowboys football every week for the next 5 months, hopefully 6!!! :yourock:

Leary, can not be this good. Is Collins playing out of position, like he should be challenging for RT, or is he not that 1st rd talent, that he was suppose to be? I think Leary is good, but someone who was going to be a 1st rd pick, should be capable of beating him out.

Earlier in the week reports were Collins was doing well in drills and scrimages. Just want the best 5 guys out there. Whitehead seems to be impressing everyone.

Yeah this is the feeling I get from all the opinions at TC, Leary looks incredible, Collins is at least one year from challenging. Looks like it was premature thinking, but you hope that eventually Collins can be a starter.

I think it's more of the ups and downs of a rookie learning the NFL game. If this were a lesser offensive line, he would probably be starting out of necessity. But this is arguably the league's very best line, so it's not a huge surprise that a rookie - even one with a first round pedigree - might have trouble making it.

There was a great comment on one of the shows the other day. They said that this team was fortunate enough to acquire three first round talents, but that this current team is so good, that none of them may be starting in week one against the Giants. They will certainly be contributors, but it's a great sign when talent like that is challenged to crack the starting lineup.

A very good problem to have!

Are there any non-big three radio stations that cover the Cowboys with good sources or beat writers? The Oklahoman and the SA Express cut their local Cowboys beat writers, are there any unexpected newspapers that cover Dallas?

In the past Tim M would do a play by play of Cowboys scrimmages (11 on 11 practices) and some of our own great posters would do the same here on the ZONE, is anyone publishing that kind of detail.

Reality is. Not everyone had Collins as a first rounder. I saw a few folks grading him out in the second round. And even some of the folks that had him going first round were in the mid to late parts of the round with question marks. So it shouldn't be that surprising that he's struggling. We just got spoiled with guys like Fredrick and Martin. Even Smith had his critics his first year.
Collins is a talent and he'll get there. Just may take a while.

Rafael Vela at cowboyszone probably has the most detailed stuff. Blogging the boys might have some also.

Speed... Thank you.

Next year? When training camp is in Frisco, we will have plenty of Zoners doing play by play on Zone.

I don't know if the Boys are going to be ready for 20K showing up to watch practices in N Texas.

Jason Garrett was asked about Collins and Leary just an hour ago, listened to him on his annual conference call with season ticket holders.

Said Collins is making very good progress. And believes he is better suited for OG right now than OT. Said Leary is looking great, and will play to not give up his starting role. They try not to move any guys on OL from position to position, just because a player can play several positions. does not mean they will move them around and hinder any progress.

Is that someone's else's opinion or an assumption by you. I can not and will not believe that the front office makes that call. The trainers and the coaches makes that call 100% of the time.

The only reason the FO would make that call is if they were trading or cutting a player and wanted to make sure he was medical cleared so there won't be an injury settlement involved.
