OmerV, you got me. Even though i showed it mathematically, you have convinced me that there is no way the "majority" of his catches could have been less than his average. The thought that one or two outliers per game could influence the average was just crazy talk.

I will admit I was off on the 3-4 yd claim (which was just off top of my head to illustrate a point). His average target (air travel) was 5.2 with his total average per target was 6.4.

Of course what you showed mathematically did not indicate what was intended. In any case, it appears you realize that 3-4 yards per catch was not the norm for Witten. As for the average per target interjected with this post, Witten's average was a little low compared to the better averages, just as his ypc was. The better TE's averaged about a yard per target more than Witten.

"Potential" is a word used by hacks like you on a regular basis to serve the purpose exactly as you defined it. You don't want to be held to task for what you say. It's an ambiguous word that than cannot be challenged because it cannot be defined with context to how it is being used. "Rico has potential" We all have potential. For all the "potential" you see in Rico, it hasn't helped him rise in the depth chart. The coaches have placed him 4th on the TE hierarchy. Maybe that will change during TC. If what you say is true, I would expect that change. But I don't expect that change.

It's not about "belief." There is actual technology that actually tracks the players' movement. It's not up for debate. If you think there was some extenuating circumstance that made Witten run extraordinarily fast for one brief second and some reason why Gronkowski never recorded a speed as fast at least 34 tight ends (likely more, given that I checked only 45) on any of his 69 catches, let's hear it.

Like I said, I don't care what you believe. The NFL uses high-tech equipment to track the location, speed and acceleration for every player on every play, and I'm certain the league doesn't care whether you think it's "really, really stupid," either.

Ummm. Nobody ignored Jason Witten once they knew he was the real deal. Witten did a great job of finding ways to get open. And you should check the stats for first downs for Witten. He was a first down machine. Your "tackled 3 yards short of the down marker," doesn't fly.

Wright wasn't a bad kick returner for us with that speed, but never amounted to much as a receiver.

And you're point is accurate. Blazing speed is an asset, no question, but hands and route running are actually higher priorities, assuming at least decent speed.
