There is no timetable. He's got the job until he can't play well enough to get the team into playoff contention. MM will be gone before Dak.

You're the general manager of this team, Dak has been here for several seasons. Knowing this and all the resources you've given him, what's the time frame that he has to go deep into the playoffs or win a championship??

Do you feel that the cowboys have a time frame on Dak being that he's been here this long. Please keep this appropriate!!!! Give your thoughts please....
Last year.

Dak Prescott Next Cowboys Contract: $351 Million - Highest-Paid NFL Player Ever?

Dak Prescott is presently a "$40 million APY'' player ... who is likely to soon be a "$50 million APY'' player - which could make the Cowboys QB the NFL's highest-paid player ... ever.

This is what I have been predicting.
If Dak were better and we had better coaches, (not including quinn) then the smart thing to do is extend dak now, right now at a good price, not the above
salary of 50 mil.
But dak is not really the guy, we have seen his limitations for many years now, and he is older and cant run like he used to.
So extending him is a mistake, for any amount.

With the defense they have, and going to run more, a young rookie qb would be good, and let rush play till the rook is ready to play.
At some point they have to move on from dak. So why not in 24 and reduce your cap with a cheaper QB.

With dak they are paying elite prices for a less than or lets say avg QB , and they could get same or better results from a young guy.

I have watched ben dinucci in the xfl games, and he is looking good, runs good, and some good passing most of time, but is throwing
some dumb ints and some off target.,
But his team cant run so he has to throw way too much. not saying dallas should bring him back, but some team should grab him as a bkup
to develop further.
I would like to see dallas draft the tcu qb duggan, and develop him for 1 year and let him take over in 24.

But jones boys will make dak the highest paid player ever lol and keep him for the next decade !

OH WOW!! 21.k LOL

So incredible!! What a stud. Better than Dak for sure!!

Werent you the guy that predicted he would get lots of starting offers this year? Looks like the rest of the NFL agrees with old CowboyRoy and not with USARmyTroll that Rush didnt do much but show up and drive the bus.
yes but that was a dumbed down offense by KM, that had the low point total, and it doesnt matter , bus driving is ok if they win.
Rush only lost 1 game, to the eventual NFC Champ and almost SB champ eagles.
Dak lost 4 games to rush's 1
The main reason they lost to eagles was trying to pass too much, and they were not running enough and had wrong rb starting.

This is a great summary of what happened. The dak over the cowboys fans can't accept this. Dak is just a choker who has the glitch that when it matters he's nowhere to be found.

So why do teams pay the QB so much more than any other position .
Dak needs a roster around him....he's got a better Offense around him (with Cooks and RB/TE taken in first couple of days of the draft. With no Moore and his complex route formations Dak has no excuse.

Again, QB's dont win games, teams do. QB's dont need excuses anymore than a RB needs an excuse.

If there is anyone that is held accountable its MM. The question becomes.............what does MM need to win a championship. Although the most important player on offense the QB is still highly dependent on the play of the players around him and the coaching. All he can do is play offense. Cant play defense, special teams, or coach.

You could have all the skill position players you want, but if your Oline is average, it makes little difference. This is offensive football 101. AT this time the Oline is worse than last year and the Oline was clearly not good enough last year.

If you dont understand these simple concepts your wont be very good in any rational football conversation.

Why do teams pay QB's so much money? Because they are stupid. Owners are suffering from their own stupidity and tendencies. Its gotten way out of hand with the QB position.

What are the qualifications for "major games"? And how can one discern if Dak is the one winning or losing and not the team?

Let me preface my comments with this: I am a Dak fan and I readily admit that he was bad, very bad, against the 49ers in the playoffs, especially early. And Dak was absolutely incredible the week prior against a Buccaneers team that totally embarrassed him in week one. Was that game not "major"?

But while this may sound like making excuses for Dak, looking back at the 49ers game, which Cowboy can say he played well? Maybe CeeDee Lamb? As bad as Dak was, let's not forget the line play (Zeke was the game's top rusher with 26 yards), the other receivers not getting open, Trevon Diggs dropping a sure pick six, and the defense not covering George Kittle.

The knock on Dak is his perceived inability to win in the clutch (though he has at least 20 game winning drives in his career). And I admit, he has yet to show he can elevate the play of others around him in situations like the divisional playoffs. But at some point someone in the coaching staff needs to realize what Dak is. A very good QB, but not Patrick Mahomes.

This doesn't mean Dak can't ever win a Super Bowl, it just means the team needs to be built around him to compensate and complement his abilities. For example, does anybody TRULY believe Brock Purdy is an elite QB? Or did the 49ers rally around him and allow him to make just enough plays to not ***** things up and still win?

Its these crossroads in QB contracts that the FO needs to have legit options, the time to draft a mid round QB is now, if you hit then you get a haul for Dak and move on...if not you extend Dak and move on...What you dont do is move on just to move on..you would be wasting young talent that this team has vested in.

Those 'team' elements have been improved and now its up to Dak to prove that he can overcome the 2022 woes. Its a team game, however, you do expect more from those that are being paid most. There's no team excuses left its up to him to prove (WHICH I BELIEVE HE's CAPABLE OF) that he can manage the team to at least 2 successive play-off games in a row.
As the on-field manager, that touches the ball in virtually all Offensive snap (and with the contract), he should take a large proportion of the responsibiliy (even in the face of adversity)

Nope, its not up to Dak to do anything but lead the offense. This is the typical mistake of casual football fans.

But really, what hasnt the TEAM been able to do the last two years? Beat SF. Which is a better team. So not a big deal really. And the offense does poorly against the #1 defense in the NFL with Zeke as the feature. Again, not a big deal.

No, that’s a time frame only fans have .

Dak has been delivering to the ownership remaining a playoff contender regardless whether it’s enough for the fans . Not unless the fans pull back, stay at home and don’t turn on the TV.
