Time to ditch NFL ticket

I've been a loyal subscriber to the NFL ticket for over 10 years. But after last year, when 70% of the Cowboys games were not only on HD local stations, but were replayed on NFL network in HD. I can't cough up the extra money for HD ticket. The ticket should be in HD anyway.

By my count, I only see maybe 4-5 games I'd have to go to a sports bar to see this coming season. I can't justify paying 240+ dollars anymore to see 5 games. And if any of those 5 turn out to be competitive, they'll be replayed on NFL network the following tuesday/wednesday without all the commercials.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, when the Cowboys suck, it costs me alot more money then when they're competitive.

I see it like this. It's worth more to the NFL to play EVERY Cowboy game on national TV.

I ditched the Sunday Ticket about 3 years ago. It didn't make sense to pay $250 to see 2 Cowboy games which weren't aired in NY.

I'm debating whether or not to ditch it this coming season. There are 5 games that definitely will not be shown locally. The rest are prime time or 4:15 PM EST start times, which means they'll probably be aired nationally. I don't like sports bars, but I hate to miss those 5 games (Live). Sopcast just doesn't do it for me.

Same here. I hate sports bars. I can watch maybe a half at one while I'm having hot wings or something, but to watch an entire game just sucks. Especially here as they usually have the sound turned down.

I can't resist it. It makes Sundays so much fun. Everyone over, multiple TVs set up, everyone tracking their fantasy football squad. It's magic.

That package is 250 dollars? And people actually buy it for a few games for 1 team?

LOL! Wow.

I got rid of my dish and the ticket because all of the Cowboys games are shown on my local stations. When I did have the ticket if the game was on local tv it was blacked out on the ticket channel. I was paying $200 for watching local tv.

Plus I had reception problems.

Guys, Ive been an NFL Ticket subscriber for over 10 years. For the past 3 years, all I do is call Directv customer relations and I get a $50-$60 credit on the package and also sometimes even free HBO. Give it a try before you dump it.

Couldn`t have said it any better, it`s not all about the Cowboys games it`s about being able to watch every single NFL game.

How much money will be spent at sports bar while watching the games? $50 a game and you could have stayed home.

I have had Sunday Ticket the past few years, but I am on the fence regarding this upcoming season. First of all, it's pretty darn expensive - more than double what the other leagues charge. And I hate the fact that HD is an extra $100. But more importantly...

I've been known to.... hmmm, how shall I say this? Well, I've been known to place the occassional wager of a financial nature on football games. So Sunday Ticket was a necessity. But now we have gotten to the point where the internet play-by-play is so advanced that you will sometimes see the result of a play online before seeing it on the TV.

This doesn't happen every single play of every single game, but I assure you it does happen quite a bit. I will be watching, for example, a Colts game and the internet feed will say "Vinatieri misses 42 yard FG" and then I will look up at the TV and see "here's the snap... spot... kick up... and it is no good..!! Vinatieri misses wide left..!!"

I got it to be able to watch whatever game I wanted, I'm got friends that are fans of random teams, from the Saints to the Panthers to the 49ers, so they all like coming over to catch a peek at their team and drink some beers.

I don't know why anyone would get it just to watch one particular team. The fact that the $250 doesn't get you HD games though, is pure BS.

Sunday ticket in my area has ZERO games in hd, the only games shown in hd are the local broadcasts on Fox, NBC, CBS, not only that but they only offer it with the sports package, you have to include MLB and hockey. You couldn't pay me to watch baseball. This year I'm canceling it and watching the 2 or 3 cowboy games I would otherwise miss on the internet.

Because they're a fan of that team and the games are not shown locally. If the Cowboys were lousy like they were a few years ago we wouldn't be having this discussion. When they are winning (or are expected to) they come on TV every week, which makes Sunday Ticket expendable for such fans. But when the Cowboys (or any out-of-towner's favorite team) suck, Sunday Ticket is a God-send.

Nope.. You're wrong.. You're absolutely 100% wrong.. why ?

Because the package is: $280 for the basic, nonHD package.

Yes, $280

Plus 100 for the HD package.

It sucks, but they've got us by the balls. It's like a drug habit. I'm not going to rehab.

D-TV has a 5 second delay from the regular TV coverage, which in turn has a 7 seconds delay from the live action. So, in essence, DTV has a 12 second delay from the real action.
