Time to ditch NFL ticket

Nope.. You're wrong.. You're absolutely 100% wrong.. why ?

Because the package is: $280 for the basic, nonHD package.

Yes, $280

Holy cow I got rid of it when it was $150

Plus 100 for the HD package.

It sucks, but they've got us by the balls. It's like a drug habit. I'm not going to rehab.

Got that straight, but as of next year, if it keeps going up, I'm entering the 12 step / black market program where it wouldn't cost me a penny.

This idiots keep pushing people like me away every year.

I'm debating whether or not to ditch it this coming season. There are 5 games that definitely will not be shown locally. The rest are prime time or 4:15 PM EST start times, which means they'll probably be aired nationally. I don't like sports bars, but I hate to miss those 5 games (Live). Sopcast just doesn't do it for me.

If you are in a market area that is free to broadcast any game they want....
Then it works for you.:D Like it is not a direct feer from that market where a team is based. That is the best.
Second best is an AFC market where they can send in the game they like from the NFC. Whatever gets them rating points. And in the southwest - Cowboys...... Even in parts of Arizona.

New York market gets shut out some weekends when Jets and Giants are broadcast. :(

Man, that was almost, what ? 10 years ago ?

I became a subscriber in 1994. I paid, back then, $1,200 for the Dish ( including installation ), and $99 for the Sunday Ticket, which was the first sports package of it's kind. I can't remember when it was $150. I only remember when it started getting into the $200s...

Sunday ticket in my area has ZERO games in hd, the only games shown in hd are the local broadcasts on Fox, NBC, CBS, not only that but they only offer it with the sports package, you have to include MLB and hockey. You couldn't pay me to watch baseball. This year I'm canceling it and watching the 2 or 3 cowboy games I would otherwise miss on the internet.

What's a good site to watch on the net (live?)

This strategy won't work for everyone, esp Comcast subscribers, who will no longer get the NFLN.

Probably closer to 5 years ago

Call every year and complain about new customers getting all these "free" stuff and they will give you HD package free.....maybe even $10 off for 6 months + HBO/showtime....

Doesn't hurt to call.

its called being a fan!!!! gotta do what you have to do....expensive no doubt!!

That package is 250 dollars? And people actually buy it for a few games for 1 team?

LOL! Wow.

A Commander co-worker brought up the same point. He was like it is stupid to pay $250 only to see your team play. They need to have a feature where you can choose a couple of teams throughout the year and be done with it.

Just wondering how much someone would pay to watch one game?

I paid $200 to watch Romo get his pinky broken and McBriar broke his foot and our special team give away the game in AZ last yr.

Unfortunately until DirectTV's monopoly on the NFL Sunday Tickets ends they can & will charge as much as they want to since they don't have anyone to compete with. It is their little cash cow & they know it.

Is this one of the reasons why other companies have a problem with the NFL and it's network?

I live smack dab in the middle of New Orleans Saints territory. The local FOX and CBS affiliates love to broadcast their games over those of Cowboys games, so if my choices are:

Week 1
DET @ NO Superdome 1:00 PM FOX
DAL @ TB Raymond James Stadium 1:00 PM FOX

Week 4
NYJ @ NO Superdome 4:05 PM CBS
DAL @ DEN Invesco Field at Mile High 4:15 PM FOX

Week 7
ATL @ DAL Dallas Cowboys New Stadium 4:15 PM FOX
NO @ MIA Dolphin Stadium 4:15 PM FOX

Week 11
WAS @ DAL Dallas Cowboys New Stadium 1:00 PM FOX
NO @ TB Raymond James Stadium 1:00 PM FOX

Week 17
NO @ CAR Bank of America Stadium 1:00 PM FOX
PHI @ DAL Dallas Cowboys New Stadium 1:00 PM FOX

-- I'm playing it safe and keeping my NFL Sunday Ticket subscription, thank you very much. I'm also not going to begin hoping that a flexed game interferes with my watching Cowboys football. And no, week four is not a gimme. I've seen where one network has a doubleheader and the other network doesn't, which leaves me screwed watching non-Cowboys football when they're on another channel.

No, I'm going to keep paying. I'll probably keep paying until it hit $450 or more per season. Missing even one Cowboys game due to any reason isn't worth it in my book. It's a personal choice. Sue me.

Thank you. I'm glad somebody understands the mentality behind it. I'll be blocked out of the same 5 games if not more. Looks like the NFL has got me right where they want me. I think I'll make one of those phone calls to customer retention and see what that gets me.
