Jerry also needs to take the Oline coaching position very seriously and go find the best Oline coach available to help shape and rebuild this Oline. The offense goes according to how the Oline performs.
Easy to hate on Solari. The offense stinks.

Solari doesn’t though. Dude has the Ring. Been coaching Olines for decades.

problem is bigger than MikeS.

Correct with the 14 million cap savings (as well as the idea that this guy stinks), but his 13,250,000 salary for 2025 became fully guaranteed this past March.

They love to back themselves into that spot for some reason.

Now….if Jerry wouldnt eat 5 million to not have a lame duck HC and staff for this year, do you think they are going to cut Steele when they have to pay him about a million a week next season anyway? I’m thinking no.

These are the decisions that haunt this franchise, and I have no idea why he couldn’t have been had much cheaper, but they wanted to congrat themselves for finding a UDFA starter….and we know Jerrys line of thinking…higher pay means better performance.
They aren’t haunting the franchise
All teams have these issues
We just won’t spend money … we’ve got plenty of cap money sitting around this year and will next year I am sure

Disagree. I notice how the Oline performs from the snap of the football on each play. They always come off too high, thus lose leverage right away. Too slow on their feet. No drive. No staying low or firing out. One with experience can see where the lack of coaching is missing on this Oline.

agree. A lot of assistant coaches get rings and are nothing special. I have seen very little from Solari that makes me think he is worth keeping.

Ok. Semantics. I won’t disagree.

They won’t spend on other teams players either way.

Having cap room this year doesn't mean they have money to spend.

The Cowboys have to roll over that money into next year to pay Parsons/Bland/others and the few FA's they can afford.

I’ll say this right now this is the time to find out about Asim Richards . The staff seems to like him then by all means play him .

RT Richards
RG Martin / Bass in the future
C. Beebe
LG Smith
LT Guyton

When the edge gets around Steele with no physical attempt to engage it’s horrible . And I’ll say this as well , the coaching staff has been mediocre to start and finish with MM.

Nolan Zimmer Solari Schottenheimer ….time is up fellas .

He’s been coaching OL in the NFL over 3 decades. Many teams.

Must be something they like.

Big Mike is your problem.

It's times to move on from him. Dallas cacan save 14 million in cap space if he's a post June 1 cut in 2025. With Zack Martin probably gone also, just rebuild the o-line. Maybe move Guyton to RT his natural position, let Tyler take over at LT draft a RG/LG.
Guyton just played his best game of the season and graded pretty highly.

Leave him at LT, play out this season and if he continues to improve it is much easier finding a new RT.

Move on from Solari. I don’t get how he isn’t blamed more for the crap-show OL.

But then yes, move on from Steele and Martin and get some young warriors to build around in the trenches
Wasn’t he coaching Dallas when Kennedy was in office?

Zeke had a similar dead cap number when he was cut. It will be spread over two seasons. I think Steele is gone unless he improves drastically.

There are quite a few coaches who have hung around forever, but they aren't exactly great coaches, at least by the numbers.

You might be right in that Solaris blocking scheme isn't a fit for MMs offense. That said his oline is playing worse than the talent level would indicate, and it's been that way for awhile.

Its time to move on from this staff in general, but we all knew that after GB.

His base $$ has been low.

It ramps up to 13M in 2025.

He’s gonna get cut.
As was previously stated by fivetwos the 2025 base salary is now fully guaranteed. He will be cut after next year and we will eat dead money for years after that.

The single most important decisions a team makes are who they give out the big money to. These contracts are so massive that players are literally set for life the minute they sign them. If they do not love the game you are pretty much screwed. If they are not the type of player who would play the game for free you are pretty much screwed. We have done a terrible job of identifying the right people to hand out large contracts to.

Yes, but they kept Elliott around until the guaranteed salary was paid out. That’s the big factor, not the dead money. Sometimes folks confuse dead money as salary still being owed to the player. That’s not the case. Not saying you’re doing that, I don’t know, but keep in mind they kept a lame duck staff rather than eat about half of what Steele still has coming to him in cash salary.

They owe him 13.25 million for next season whether he is here or not. Plus they like him, and don’t easily admit mistakes.

I personally don’t think he is any good and never did. Not as if I’m pining to keep him. I just don’t see them cutting him with that guarantee in place. After next season, different story but I’d put it well over 90% that he is here in 2025.

coaches eventually burn out and its a fact a lot of coaches barely above average survive for a long time
so just because he has lasted does not mean he is all that
