If so, 2016 would be remembered as the biggest year for QB busts in the history of the league.

Oh, there have been lots of those.

Look at 2006 for example: Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler, Kellen Clemens, Tavaris Jackson, Charlie Whitehurst, Brodie Croyle, Brad Smith, Ingle Martin, Omar Jacobs, Reggie McNeal, Bruce Gradkowski, and DJ Shockley

That's pretty typical actually. Quarterbacks bust at an alarming rate.

It's erod. So not really.
You might as well claim Mett is a raging furry who stares at holographic posters of present day Mary Tyler Moore all day on shrooms and it would be about as likely.

Go back and look at drafts past. I gave an example of 2006, but that's most every year. Just a bunch of Zach Mettenbergers over and over.

There are less than 15 quarterbacks that are worth a crap, and most of them were drafted a long time ago.

I'm on board with bringing him in and letting him compete. He showed some potential in Tenn he's certainly worth a look.

Then he's paid his debt to society and you need to give the guy a break. In America he doesn't pay for this mistake for the rest of his life. He has a right to pursue happiness and work in his chosen profession. It's not your job to rid the NFL of everyone with a record and even if it was, you're doing a very bad job.

LOL. Again your genius shines through. I don't need to do anything, Mettenberger needs to work for his own breaks just like anyone else. 0-10 gets no sympathies from me and I'm sure Cowboys aren't in any hurry to sign an inaccurate, immobile, no win QB with a conviction.

I don't disagree at all. Even if the team knows they want Moore to be the backup, they need to bring in someone to compete and push Moore to be better.

I see... I see! That pretty much means Zack's better than any QB coming out this year!
I'm convinced.

Actually he was recruited by Georgia don't know if he was dismissed by the team or he transfered to LSU but that is where his college career started.

After the issue at the bar he was suspended from the team. Transferred then to LSU. Was considered the time prior to the ACL issue to be a possible 2 or 3 round pick.

Handing the backup job to Moore without anyone on the roster to push him to get better is not a good plan. Metty B would at least do that.

No problem bringing in a more proven AND productive vet to compete. But people forget that QB position is very different than any other position on team. QBs are undisputed leader of team and face of the franchise. Cowboys QBs even more so.

A misfit can work at any other position, not so at QB. Especially QB of America's Team.

Was actually banned from city of Valdosta as part of his sentence then kicked off the University of Georgia team. Not sure where he was ranked to go in draft coming out of LSU (after playing at community college) but he failed drug test at combine and diagnosed with a spine issue on top of his season ending knee injury.

LOL. Now Cowboys are looking for "least" instead of "best" options? Those are low standards indeed.

Did I say let's get the least option? No I did not. I said rather than just handing the job to Moore, let's at least have a guy on the roster that can push Moore to get better.

But a proven and productive backup does not exist. If they did, they would be on a team by now. The QB position is pretty slim pickings, you either overpay for below average players or you try to stick with what you have on your roster.

This. If metty b is as trash as a qb as this board believes then Moore should beat him out easily, am I rite or wut?

Let the best man win qb2

Mettenberger is not the best option available, how hard is that for you to understand? Cheer lead all you want for the guy, that doesn't change that fact.

It's a simple point. Quarterbacks bust most every time.

Which equals Mettenberger is going to be the best QB in comparison to every QB coming out of this class?
I guess that can be simple to some...
