It's wonderful seeing the sports world getting involved. I've never been more proud of the NFL and all professional sports which the NBA and MLB has also joined in speaking out.

There's no doubt in my mind they're on the right side of history.
Your political stands should get you benched but we know it won't because you are on the "right side".

Sorry but the segment being fed the red meat is the majority, u are in the minority which is currently holding court at the nearest Costco. The cause IMO is bs

Well, if we're going to talk "majority" we should probably include the group that doesn't really care either way. Those who are watching 2 groups of children arguing back and forth, getting entirely too upset because someone disagrees with them.

I think that's the real majority.

Best thing to do is play the anthem while the players are still in the locker room, totally takes away their pulpit. Load the sidelines with police and services while the anthem is played...Yeah I like that!
I think it's too late, situation too polarizing now for such simple and logical solution. The response would only be that protests are being silenced

I think the best thing to do would be for people to just not care. Patriotism is great. I love the US, but trying to force patriotism on others is no longer Patriotism. It's Nationalism. If there's one common theme in all the social disagreements in the US, it would be that people are entirely too invested in trying to tell others how they should behave or how they should live their lives. If someone isn't breaking the law, mind your own business. You do you, and just let everyone else do them.

You're right. The NFL could have solved this issue when it first started. They could have supported their players yet kept the protests off the playing field (ie: their place of employment). This will continue to get ugly as both sides dig in.

Political opinions shouldn't get someone benched. Harassment over political commentary should. Once upon a time this board had a political zone. Part of the reason it had to go was because there was a small group of posters who could not differentiate between posting their opinions and harassing others who didn't share their beliefs. The other part was because this small group of posters were mod favorites (mods at that particular time) and so their harassment went unchallenged.

He was unanimously extended back in 2012, which means Jerry voted in favor of him. If Jerry doesn't understand the guy's paycheck then it's his own fault.
No argument from me. His issue, not mine.

I'm on a no political stance now so I don't care how it was in the past. I don't like seeing politics with my sports.

What the NFL hasn't figured out is that you don't want a head person in your organization " negotiating your contracts".... as there are inherent conflicts that come up and better for a person outside those proceedings to look at whats at
stake , and unlike Goodell, just go for the throat on everything.

Excellent. Also invite veterans to be on the field for that moment. Would be a thrill for them, and a well deserved recognition.

Had the opportunity, in enemy territory, Philly's Lincoln Financial to be on the field. Gives a different perspective on how small the goal posts are, what a contained area the end zone is, and what the turf feels like.

Also the fishbowl like confine of the filed compared to the height/vastness of the stands.

Was able to catch a TD thrown by one of the backup college QB's..... Saluted the flag after catching it to cheers from the students who watched this old geezer haul it in.

15 yard in route, that the ball came in way faster than I remember playing neighborhood WR... Luckily I snagged it with my left hand, and secured it immediately... Take that Dean Blandino.....

Try not to care. You'll benefit. I guarantee it.
I'm trying to be a reformed poster. My last benching cost me 30 days. I'm not down with being benched so I have to care and do what is contrary to my instincts of making political commentary. It ain't easy but I'm able to resist the temptation. What makes it harder is seeing others getting away with doing it. I just have to hope the mods do their jobs by holding others as accountable as they've been with me. Meanwhile, I just shut up about it and eat my popcorn. :)

How many people think that we'll have at least one player on our team take a knee during the national anthem on Monday night...and will Jerry follow through on his statement that such a player will not be on this team for long??
