Comparing Dak with the above Greats is an insult to the game. How about one that went 5-11 like Elway did one stretch? Or 6-10 like Peyton Manning did at one stretch. Or one that went 10-17, as Brees did early in his career, or 21-27 as Brees did at a point later in his career? Or 10-12-1 as Rodgers did a few years ago? Or 7-19 as Aikman was early in his career?
Apparently a cherry picked stretch of a player's career doesn't tell the whole story.
Yep, Jerry just needs to pony up on 4 years.
This is a ridiculous statement. So Dak should stick it to Jerry because he isn't married to a wealthy model? Thats why Dak only thinks of himself?
For the sake of argument let’s say we let Dak walk. Then what.
Draft a QB and how long until he’s developed assuming our Football Idiots draft someone as good as Dak.
How many years do we wait to become relevant and interesting again?
Im not sure everyone has thought this thru.
All the young QBs these days are getting 4 year deals. Watson, Goff and Wentz all got 4 year deals. Kirk Cousins original deal with Vikes was for 3 years. Cowboys asking for 5 is outside the norm here.
How many years do we wait to become relevant and interesting again?
There's no thought process, only "no, no, no."
Why is it so important that Jerry pony up, as you say? Do you value Dak more than you value the team? Is it worth it to you that the team continue to mire in mediocrity as long as your buddy gets paid?
Take a look at the list of QB's making more than 25M a year. Brady is better than all of them.Brady makes about 25 million a year. Is Dak better than Brady?
I agree, so given that, why would you pay more for a guy who isn’t in the caliber of a Brady? Hell I will make it easier, can we sign Dak to a 40 million a year contract and then jettison the WRs since we need cap room to sign better defensive players? Can we also trade Zeke and maybe Tyrone Smith and see if we can roll with Knight or Steele and see if the 40 million dollar a year guy can function without crapping the bed?Take a look at the list of QB's making more than 25M a year. Every team pays for the QB what they have to pay, not what they want to pay. This is by their own design. They created QBball.I agree, so given that, why would you pay more for a guy who isn’t in the caliber of a Brady? If Nick Foles can win in the right circumstances, it's hard for me to think that Dalton can't win. Foles has struggled to be a starter in the league, and while Dalton is not all-world, he has had top-level seasons. Dalton left some points on the field last season that perhaps Dak doesn't, but we scored 30 points enough times to say that Dalton is good enough. Defense has been the problem for years. While I don't believe Dalton could, we also pretty much give up on a super bowl possibility if we pay Dak 40ish/year.
Dak has gone way beyond trying to maximize his value.
I'd say because these deals were bad from the start, and the Cowboys know this, and are trying not to repeat the mistakes from other teams.Right, I’m just explaining why I don’t understand the Cowboys holding hard for 5 years....unless...they intended all along to freeze out Dak? Not sure...
Possible I guess, but Dalton has just been so bad in the playoffs. If Nick Foles can win in the right circumstances, it's hard for me to think that Dalton can't win. Nailed it!No he isn't, in fact he isn't even in the same zipcode as Brady or any other top tier QB. Dak is an average QB, basically a Ryan Fitzpatrick that turns the ball over less.
