Does anyone know how his current contract is structured? Bonuses, at what time, salary due for the next two year? Sometimes I wonder if T.O. sabotages things. His intent might have been to be traded or released after this year, but it blew up on him earlier than he expected. For example, if he thought that he would only get paid, say 2 mil next year and was due 9 mil the following year.. he knew he would never see that 4th year of the contract and want out now instead, since he already received a big bonus. He'll try again for the same thing.. to get some instant bonus money guaranteed..but I don't see many takers.

Also I expect Rosenhaus to be on sever spin control for himself..not just TO.. if at all TO.. he doesn't want to lose any clients because of how this turned out and you know he won't let TO come between himself and money.. he'll throw TO under the boat in a heartbeat, at least privately, if not publicly.

What's it going to be then, eh?

By that logic every player deserves a new contract commensurate with the success of the team. It doesn't work that way, though. If Owens wanted more money tied to Super Bowl trips, he shoulda had it expressed in the contract he signed to play under for seven years. If he wanted more money up front or the right to opt out after a year, it shauld have been included. It wasn't and that's no one's fault but his. If he got cheated, he cheated himself, and that's the bottom line.

I agree.

Were this the case, Deion Sanders could have showed his ugly side after we won our last Super Bowl.

The bad thing is that Owens is a mercenary who thinks of himself above the team. At least Sanders was more of a team player.

If it was implied to Owens that his contract would be renegotiated, then he is simply ignorant. The Eagles have played hardball for years. He should not have been shocked if he did his homework. That was his problem, once things blew up with Baltimore, he wanted out and he did not care where.

T.O. was cheated by the Eagles when he accepted a 12 million dollar signing bonus?

Andy Reid and the Eagle organization sat down with Owens and his agent, David Joseph, and made certain they understood the parameters of that deal, how it was structured. And they were fine with it.

Cheated? Please.

Press conference is going on, so far T.O. has apologized to everyone - fans, teammates, McNabb, Reid and Lurie. Sounds like he's desperate to get back on the team.

Rosenhaus is now talking, typical agent-speak

The theme of T.O.'s press conference is very simple..."Ruh Roh, what have I done to myself? Somebody please give me another chance plea$e."

Hey TE77, this is somewhat reminisant of a discussion you and I had a few months back. Looks like the worst has come to fruition.
I am mildly interested in resuming that discussion. I'm not sure which one you are referring to though.

He's not trying to get back on the Eagles - he's trying to repair his image.

"I don't recall Philly ever saying anything about renegotiations. Owens was in the first year of a brand new seven-year agreement for crapsake"

Yeah, but T.O. SAID that they SAID they would renegotiate!!!! LOL!

Yes. Sounds a lot like that to me as well.

Rosenhaus has been nothing but detrimental to this kid.

I think it is a bit of both...

He realizes if he is out the rest of the year that the money goes down the drain...

Boy... Rosenhaus sounds like an idiot...

The state of the Eagles this year. Window of opportunity, depth, NFC East as a whole. It was some time ago. Possibly even before the season started, don't really remember exactly.

Rosenhaus is on a soapbox, "He's given everything to this team"

"Other players have done worse and they're not punished. He's broken no laws, etc."

Also mentioning his coming back from injury last year and now they dare label him "selfish"

Funniest part of the PC is listening to the groaning in the background when Rosenhaus makes a gripe.

Hopefully this discourages even further agents like rosenhaus and the postons. probably wont learn anything though.

Rosenhaus has basically muzzled Owens.

"The press has been unfair to Terrell. I'll answer for him now."

And then he ignores most of the questions posed.

Emphasizing how he played in the Super Bowl without a waiver to demonstrate how he's a great team player. IMHO, he knew he was going after a new contract following the season and the Super Bowl was a stunt.

On FoxSports Radio this morning, Chris Landry said Rosenhaus is a publicity hound and that he is not very good in the negotiating aspect of contracts...

He said the Postons strike much more fear to NFL teams than does Rosenhaus...

Never happen -- Reid would look spineless -- and he isn't.

and as my mother always would say "if you are really sorry you wouldn't have done it in the first place"
