Since T.O. left we supposedly got rid of all the selfish-diva type of players, shuffled coordinators on both sides of the ball two times over, completely overhauled the roster, and the same functional problems remain. Time has absolved T.O. of any wrong doing, it's clear as day he was never the real problem here. And I'm not going to waste time quoting/responding to posters who think otherwise. He was just one in a line of many who played the role of the scapegoat to protect this buffoon of a head coach we have.

First TO was a locker room issue and caused issues everywhere he went.

With that said though, it wouldn't surprise me if it was JG. I think the guy throws anyone..players, coaches, etc under the bus to keep his position as the guy who is looking out for the team. Always comes out clean despite not winning too often.

Sums it up nicely. TO was never a choir boy, but unlike Garrett, at least he produced.

I've never seen so many coaches and players scape-goated to protect a guy who has himself never accomplished anything.

And this isn't the only time such allegations of politicking have been made. Yakuza pointed out many and I'd add in the treatment of Dan Reeves, a former Cowboy who was ready, willing, and certainly able of helping this organization. Until Garrett ran crying to Jones and a Super Bowl caliber coach suddenly had to 'punch in'.

He's going to do whatever it takes to keep this gig, because he knows once he's done here, he's done in the NFL.

Without a shadow of a doubt. He's been gifted everything he's gotten because of the relationship between his family and the Joneses. And, despite a Princeton education, he's a football dummy. He can talk to whatever great coaches he wants and drop pithy quotes and have savvy interviews all day long, but the fact is that he doesn't have what it takes to actually be a head coach.

Proof is in the pudding! .500 baby!

I think Garrett is a bad coach but if he helped get J.O out of town he deserves a statue.

Right! Here is a coach that watched Wade take the fall despite his offense failing too. Then he spent his first few years losing and scapegoating whatever Assts he had around until he got "his guys." Now when things go wrong its something else. I'll stop short of going further so this doesn't end up in the Coaches/Rant Zone but I'm not surprised he once again came out clean while others got kicked in the press.

Again, T.O. was his own worst enemy and this happened everywhere but doesn't mean that what he is saying can't be true also.

Terrell Owens thinks Jason Garrett leaked information that got him chased out of Dallas

"Former Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens was the headline at Ticketstock 2016 over the weekend. Here's some things the always entertaining wideout had to say about his time in Dallas:

Why did the Cowboys want to get rid of him:

"There were some things that kind of swirled around right at the end of the 2009 season. I think everybody has heard that there was some rumbling going around, some whispers about me saying that Tony and Witten were drawing up plays, this and that. I understood where I was in my career and I wasn't trying to be divisive in the locker room or anything like that.

Once I got to Dallas, I felt like I had matured a little bit, I wanted to communicate with my head coaches, so if there was anything internal going on, we talked about it, even as a receiver group, whatever is said in that room, stays in that room. There were some things that were leaked out that were supposed to be in house from meetings that myself, Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton had with Jason Garrett. It just so happened, of the four of us -- and maybe five of us with coach [Ray] Sherman -- knowing about that meeting, things got leaked. That's a shame because, of those four guys, outside of Garrett, I'll put my life on it that none of them said anything.

So that's how things started their downspiral and got out of control. I was all about winning, so if there was something that I saw in practice that was happening in games that was causing us to have hardships in games, and even lose games, then I had an issue with it. So if I address something with my teammates and my coaches and I thought it was supposed to be internal, that's why I said it. I never said it for it to get outside of those walls.

Those are some of the things that happened and that had gotten out. It's unfortunate that it did, but I understood my role. If I addressed something about where the ball was going, it wasn't necessarily for me to just get the ball [more]. I understood my role. I played with the best receiver in the game in Jerry Rice. I went on to play in Philly where I kind of adopted some of those things along with some of the things I brought to the table to understand the nature of being No. 1 receiver. You have to do the intangibles -- that's blocking, that's being a decoy sometimes and that's really stepping up to the plate when your number is called.

With me having that level of maturity and understanding of the game, I addressed some of those issues. Sometimes balls were being thrown into double-coverage when guys were open, and that's what I wanted to address and bring to the attention of the staff. Some of those things got out, and that's unfortunate. That was me trying to be a leader. That was me trying to be a team player for the betterment of the team because I was brought here to win football games and try to get to the Super Bowl."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought this was an interesting read. I don't believe for a second that TO wasn't self-centered and a locker room cancer during his time in Dallas, but I also think there is probably some amount of truth to what he's saying here. Thoughts?

Kinda late to be looking for scapegoats, isn't Terrell? I know, you have 50 million reasons to do so to explain your messed-up life. . . .

The thread was bound to end up there anyway when it's naming Garrett in the title. When it goes there, it isn't anyone's fault. And as long as open expression is allowed, I can't quibble over where it's located.

I liked TO..

Very exciting and productive player.

Garrett... Very boring and unproductive coach.

I am no fan of Garrett. Yet, Garrett has a steady paycheck and T.O. is hyping Butterfingers:

From extra mustard:
"In an effort to continue his legacy of dancing, Owens is teaming up with Butterfinger to offer up to $50,000 to any player fined in the AFC and NFC Championship game or the Super Bowl for excessive celebration."

What he really needs is continual Snickers bars.

At least TO proved he could produce and will be a HOF receiver. What has Garrett done comparably in his profession?

No one has ever doubted TO ability as a player but that should tell you a lot when despite his talent teams grew tired of him pretty quickly.

Well I really don't care about this pissing match between TO and Garrett..................I will say this however.........

TO balled when he was on the field and will most likely be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year

Meanwhile, Garrett is 46-44 all time and has made the playoffs one time in 5 complete seasons.

Just the facts.

It's not a pissing match between anybody. It's an out of work player with emotional problems who still hasn't learned to keep his mouth shut after all the damage it did him in his career.

He's a clown. He's always been a clown. He was a great player, but he's an idiot.
