Ross and Houston.

Does Ross's limited playing experience as a starter concern you? Or is it just that there was a lot of more experienced talent in front of him and he finally got his chance to shine?

I realize he could find tape on anyone to make them look bad but there was more than enough film shown that showed he wasn't very explosive/quick and then putting up a time that would have been disappointing for a linebacker really seemed to prove his point then add that I don't think his vertical was 30 inches.

He's either injured or is looking at the second day.
He injured his hamstring at the Senior Bowl. By all accounts he was the hands down top corner at the practices until his injury. I'm surprised he even ran if he was injured. Then again, his pro day is in about a week so waiting til then to run might not have changed much. A 4.7 for a corner is just abysmal. I'd love it if this dropped him to 2nd day. That would be quite the steal.

I don't mind players that were backups for most of their careers if it's at a big time program. Some players never started yet went on to terrific NFL careers like Brad Johnson.

The Senior Bowl proved to me that Ross can cover and while he doesn't have elite top end speed, he appears quicker than most others. I haven't seen his three cone time yet but I'll bet it's near the top.

He's pretty sound fundamentally also and I think not starting early actually helped that. Players on the second team often work harder on their technique to get the first team job than long term starters do.

I'd argue that he wasn't a Senior Bowl standout prior to injury but I do agree that he may be hurt but maybe he isn't and he's really that slow.

What? Every single report I read from the SB had him as heads and shoulders above every corner -- blowing away the competition.

Example (NFLDraftScout.com):

[FONT=Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]Daymeion Hughes turned in one of the great single day performances Monday I've seen over my seven years of covering the Senior Bowl.

Oh Laron, you're ruining all my dreams by being so good. I said it last year, this kid is the best Safety prospect I have seen in 20 years.

Did you see that video of Wendling I posted yesterday, of him jumping over that bar?

There is a versatile guy we could use. He played some corner, too, didn't he?

yep, he's a freakin' athlete for sure, props to silverbear for pimping him

I still think Nelson is going to be the better safety and would be the better fit for our team.

As good as Landry is Nelson was hands down the best safety in the country last year as a Jr.

Both will be good players but I think Nelson will be the guy on the highlight reels week in and week out making the big play.

Wait till you guys start hearing about Kenny Phillips from Miami. That kid is the most physically gifted safety i've ever seen and he is going to be a top 10 to 5 pick when ever he comes out.

If Phillips were in this draft I think he'd be the 1st safety taken.

Nothin he'll be a good player but for Dallas I think Nelson is the better fit for our defense because of the range and playmaking ability he brings with him.

He has a nose for the ball and makes as many plays as anyone in college football on defense.

Landry is more polished but Nelson left early and I think he has a higher ceiling than Landry.

I don't think we would touch Nelson with a ten foot pole.
