Then why does the pocket collapse on him and he’s not able to escape . Do you remember the Atlanta game . He says before the game he was excited about the game plan which was quick throws get rid of .

First play to Leupke went for nice yards . Cowboys broke out with lead then Prescott went down which him being mobile on the moving pockets was also part of the game plan .

Dallas has an expensive stationary QB who needs to make quick decisions and get rid of the ball . Tolbert helps.
Well, to be fair, the Oline was not playing well for most of this season until recent weeks. Still, Dak was able to scramble for a 1st down and scramble enough in the pocket to allow Dowdle to get open in the endzone on another play for a TD.

If this Oline keeps improving and helps get a running game going to start next season, that is seriously going to open things up for Dak and our receivers next year.

After rewatching some of the game this morning I'd actually look at Flournoy to take some snaps from Tolbert these last two weeks. I want to be careful due to the sample size, but Flournoy already looks like a more complete WR to me and has shown some ability to block as well. The Cowboy should have some good battles filling out the depth chart at WR next season. I still hope they look to bring in some serious competition for that WR2 spot though.

42 catches 6 TD’s this year he’s never going to be the outside burner wasn’t drafted for that never was . He’s the outlet that can stretch the chains has become more and more reliable and has a knack for finding the end zone for his QB . Every club needs this type of receiver , the Randall Cobb / Cole Beasley type .

He’s only in yr 3 when his rookie yr went by with Dak hardly finding him .

Look forward for more development next yr the last yr of his rookie contract . Very nice TD grab back of the end zone feet in bounds tonight .
He's a No. 3 that was forced to be a No. 2 when Cooks was out. (Frankly, I think Cooks is a No. 3 as well at this point in his career.)

We need to find a No. 2 next year and let Tolbert battle/split time with Turpin and Flournoy as the No. 3. I wouldn't mind Turpin being given more opportunities, though.

.....but he seems to getting better results with Rush. Honest question, can some of this improvement be attributed to a QB that can go through a progression. Is that on Mike or Dak?
He's easily getting worse stats with Rush.
He hasn't had more than 3 receptions or 41 yards in a game with Rush.

3 rec 14 yds
2 rec 21 yds
2 rec 22 yds 1 TD
2 rec 41 yards
0 rec 0 yds
1 rec 11 yds 1 TD
2 rec 20 yds 1 TD

12 for 128 and 3 TDs in 7 games. Not good at all.

30 for 354 and 3 TDs in 8 games with Dak.

WRT Kansas City, Andy Reid always spreads the ball around. Always.

In his 20+ year head coaching career, the only 1,000 yard receivers he's had are TO, DeSean Jackson, Travis Swift, Tyreek Hill, and one season from Kevin Curtis. So if you aren't a Hall of Fame caliber receiver, you just aren't going to see volume in an Andy Reid offense. You'll get 3 catches for 40 yards, three other receivers will too, and so will the running back.

With regards to Tolbert, he just looks super JAGish to me. WR4 depth and special teamer type.

He’s a really nice #3. Has impressively developed Gallup body awareness with similar toe drag swag.

Cowboys get a compliment to Lamb and they would be twice as good on the perimeter.

Like the comment regarding more chemistry between Rush & Tolbert.
Not sure he's an ideal #3. That's an explosive slot WR.

Tolbert reminds me of a head-ier, less talented Brice Butler.

Does what he's supposed to, but really is an avg. athletic talent. Will not shy from moments if given an opportunity to make a play.

He's a sub-par starting WR imho. I do like him overall but he is infinitely upgradeable.

Turpin probably being used right now at about the right level . 155 LBS of one hit away from IR stint

Didn't he break his fingers last night? I thought I heard the announcers say something to that effect, and they had taped them together.

Your right . On the play being tackled his second effort stretching for the chains got him a much needed first down and broken finger or fingers .

I know we ran him between the tackles once yesterday with success, but I'd rather see us avoid doing that as more than a surprise. We saw what happened the second time. But I also think we can use him more than we are. I think he should get about multiple offensive touches a game because he brings a speed that we don't otherwise have on offense. Frankly, I think he's our best option right now for the No. 2 role.

I was shocked he ran between the tackles but I think he gained 9 yards. . The Bucs just had the running game stuffed and Rush had maybe his best game as a pro

True. I liked the first run between the tackles because it surprised the defense. Trying it again got Turpin treated like a rag doll by Vea.

Here are some of Dak Prescott's average times to throw per year:

  • 2023: 2.37 seconds, the fastest time of his career
  • 2022: 2.72 seconds
  • 2021: 2.75 seconds
  • 2020: 2.77 seconds
  • 2019: 2.88 seconds
  • 2018: 2.82 seconds
Pretty sure last year's increased quick release time had to do with McCarthy's new Texas Coast Offense and our Oline being healthier than they have been for most of this season until lately.
Yeah but what about all the key moments he did not release the ball quickly, held on and got sacked, fumbled, hurried and got picked?

A QB can have a quick release, and have time to throw as well. But under pressure, what happens. What is the ball is off target. Can't blame the receiver every time.
Again, talking key moments, not that every play is key. But you know what I mean.

I seem Twill and Crayton mentioned about Tolbert. What about an early Michael Galllup pre-injury?

Maybe a mix of all 3.

Ouch!!! Those pesky stats always get in the way from some good Dak hating story telling... :muttley:

Well, that's true, but good thing Dak's interceptions have not been high the past 2 seasons.

As a QBR rated single game performance, yes, Cooper Rush had his best game as a pro (passer rating of 108.3 and a QBR rating of 71.3). He passed for 292 yards and 1 TD. It still wasn't his best single game passing effort. That was earlier this season in a blowout loss to the Texans where Cooper Rush passed for 354 yards, 1 TD but 1 INT and a passer rating of 75.9 and a QBR of 27.0.

Lets just make this simple for everyone.

Most of the posters on this board are easily impressed and standards are low.

I don't think he has Gallup's ability to go up and get the ball, or at least we have not seen it yet.
