Can't believe ppl think Montana is better than Brady; Dude had jerry rice, Brady has Chris hogan

You're only 27 years old you weren't even born yet last time Montana won a Super Bowl. He won his first Super Bowl without Jerry Rice. I can't believe you think Romo is second to Tom Brady amongst current QBs.

Belichick has 1 playoff win without Brady in his entire career. He never won a damn thing without him.

Ok, so let's see how this splendid logic works if we apply it to Garrett. Garrett went 12-4 with Romo then 13-3 with Dak. Thats 2 different QB's that Garrett has won with. Belicheat has only won anything with Brady, one QB. None of it has been Belicheat. Its all been Brady. So if we go by your logic it would mean Garrett is a better coach than Belicheat.

Actually, Garrett hasn't won much of anything. (being a regular season champion is for losers) He has only three playoff games under his belt in seven years (only made the playoffs twice in seven years) and he is sub .500 at that. (1-2)

Yea, but he's building something for the long term.

...but you presented information that requires being assimilated into an overall view. Something that is foreign to an agenda driven poster. Burn barrel buddies are stuck on Ripple. :)

When Brady showed up in NE, the Pats were just another team and Belichick was just another HC who was on the hot seat. No player, and it's not even debatable has done as much for a franchise as Brady has done for the Pats. He's turned that franchise into the greatest dynasty in league history. No QB has the list of accomplishments and skins on the wall that Brady has. He's won every award imaginable multiple times. He led NE to a 17-0 season and FOUR 14 win seasons. What an incredible career he's had. Anyone who tries to downplay what he's meant to NE doesn't a clue about football and how valuable a QB is to a franchise.

How was he on the hot seat when Brady was drafted the first year Bellichek coached at NE?

And Parcells never won a SB with mout Bill Bellichek..

I've already gone through that. He wasn't on the hot seat that first year in 2000 but after going 5-11 that season which was the worst season the Pats had suffered since the 93 season, the 0-2 start in 2001 put him on the hot seat. The Pats had just re-signed Bledsoe to the biggest QB extension ever at the time so fingers started pointing at Belichick. This was all reported by Chris Mortenson.

And yet, 8 of the games Brady started they never broke 200 yards passing. You do realize his defense jumped to 6th in the league in one season..

And did you even see how many TOs their offense was giving up with Brady as QB that year?

Just as an aside, Bellichek had the Browns back to 11-5 in three seasons, each season making huge improvements on an era that didn't have free agency. That was a Jimmy Johnson pace and nobody turned teams overnight in pre-free agency era..

His last season was only a disaster because they announced the move from Cleveland to Baltimore mid-season and the whole organization went into major chaos and flux.

As a side note, Brady DIDN'T play with great OL his whole career. He doesn't usually get a lot of sacks because he doesn't hold the ball too long and makes quick decisions. When QBs other than Brady behind the same lines they usually get sacked at double the rate he does, if not more. Compared to Brady, Garoppolo's career sack rate is downright terrifying, for instance.

In 2007 Brady's sack rate was 3.5%. Behind the exact same offensive line, Matt Cassel was sacked on 8.3% of his attempts and led the league in sacks. "The system" and the "great OL" didn't do anything for anybody playing QB on the Patriots except Brady.

In 2001 he took a hell of a beating and the team stunk at running the ball. His OL let him get sacked 41 times in 14 starts and they were #24 in rushing yards per attempt. In 2013 and 2015 the OL stunk out loud too, giving up 40 and 38 sacks. In several other seasons they were merely average and got bailed out by Brady's skill with the quick passing game - he's the only QB with a winning record when throwing 50+ times a game, and even he only did that because the run game simply did not exist for long stretches.

They let Brady get sacked 5 times in the first Super Bowl vs. the Giants. They just folded. Doesn't seem to "great" to me even then. They were also pitiful in last season's playoff loss to the Broncos.

Outside of one season with Corey Dillon in 2004, these so-called great offensive lines never consistently ran the ball all that well in Brady's career, either. The number of 1,000 yard rushers he's had backing him up is ridiculously small, it turns out. They're usually able to dunk on bottom-5 run defenses, but that's usually it.

Is that why they had to bring Dante Scarnecchia out of retirement, after their OL fell apart between 2013-2015 , the period HE RETIRED and you evidence that Brady was working with a garbage OL?

And 2007 Brady had Moss and they were throwing deep all the time and he had a plus 8 YPA.. He was getting major protection that year.

Brady was a game manager that first season in 2001 and the Pats finished that season with 6 straight wins. Although Brady's numbers weren't that impressive he helped turn around that 0-2 start. Bledsoe started that season with 2 picks and took 5 sacks in less than 2 games. Brady was more efficient which helped NE's defense jump to 6th in the league in one season. In the playoffs and SB Brady only tossed one pick and took 5 sacks. Bledsoe's biggest issues were throwing picks and taking sacks. He wasn't efficient which had an impact on the Pats defense.

What does this comment have to do with anything? I never said Bledsoe was good. He was very over-rated QB and cost Parcells a SB with his bone-headed INTs. The guy had horrible football intelligence, but great physical tools.

The Pats only had 1 TO those first two games, and proceeded to have like 24 the rest of the season on offense. Your argument is that Bill won because of Brady and now your saying he was a game manager in the beginning with all those TOs.. nice logic..

Now your trying to give him credit for defense, as of Bill Bellichek was never a defensive mastermind until Brady got there to maintain Bill's dependence on Brady and him not being able to win without him.. wow, just wow..

Numbers started getting inflated for QBs because the CBs had to start backing off. That's basically why Manning took years to beat the Patriots, because their CBs kept stifling his WRs.

And that's also one reason why Brady's numbers have jumped so much, when before, he was a game manager.. and now their WR packages employ all sorts of pick and run routes, which is why WRs that scrub on other offenses get open in NE...

Bringing up Bledsoe has a lot to do with this discussion because Belichick was going down with him at QB. Bledsoe had great arm talent and that was it. He was nailed to the turf taking a lot of sacks and turned the ball over a lot. The Pats had 2 turnovers (INT's) with Bledsoe those first 2 games while Brady only suffered 2 lost fumbles in his first 4 starts. Brady was a game manager that first season and game managers who are inexperienced do suffer turnovers. You're under the impression "game managers" don't suffer many turnovers and you're wrong. Game managers aren't very productive because they're not being asked to produce big numbers just manage games. Brady was a very young developing QB who played more efficiently as the 2001 season went on but he did have some turnovers.

After NE got on that 6 game winning streak to close out the 2001 regular season that convinced Belichick to stay with him despite the growing pains he was going through. The facts are Belichick was in the middle of what appeared to be another failed head coaching attempt at 5-13 with Bledsoe. Although Belichick was known as a great defensive coach he never built great defenses in NE but he's had some great offenses due to Brady. NE had the 31st ranked defense when they reached the SB in 2011 and the #2 overall offense led by Brady.

People overrate the hell out of quarterbacks. Montana had Rice(won 2 without Rice), Brady 'only' has Hogan. Just overlook the fact that Hogan has been getting wide open a lot this season, and he damn sure was in this game. Any QB worth a spit would've lit up the Steelers in that game. On the second pass in this highlight, Hogan bailed out the immortal Brady on a pass that was thrown way behind him.

Reminds of people who used to say Steve Kerr was no good until Jordan came back. He averaged the same 8 points before and after Jordan returned. Michael Wilbon even took it one step further when he once said Michael Jordan was so great that guys like Kerr couldn't take nights off because of the fear that Jordan put in them. It was totally undue credit because Kerr played in every game the previous two seasons. It didn't matter though because the host of the show loved it, the more you can slurp on Jordan the better with these media types!

Scottie Pippen's scoring actually dipped from 22ppg to 19.6ppg when Jordan returned. People love slurping on those who they dem great, so much so they end up giving them more credit than they actually deserve.

Tom Brady is no Michael Jordan. Or Montana. He's Aikman blessed with Belichick. Aikman would've gone down as a playoff GOAT but Jerry had other ideas.
