That team was overrated and it's not surprising most of our pro-bowlers were awful the next season. That team slowed down significantly in the second half of the season, even still, we should have beaten the Giants if it wasn't for the brain fart our defense had before the end of the first half and Crayton screwing up in the fourth.
Oh, no doubt they were overrated.
Back in the days when Pro Bolw was voted on mid season by fans. Cowboys came ut hot and were all the rage....way overhyped and every Cowboy with a pulse was getting Pro Bowl votes.

Still, a good team though, relatively speaking. I mean Romo played on bad teams from 2010-2013

You just have to understand what you're watching.

Stats mean absolutely nothing. They're for moms and fantasy football dorks.
so Dak didnt really throw those TD's and completions they were just stats for nerds? The wins were not really wins? help me understand, is Dak's completion % luck but Romo's was hard work? YPC Dak's was all WR and Romo's was in spite of the WR? I'm glad I'm asking someone who knows what they are watching....

I love Romo but the excuses are comical. The same debates everybody is having about Dak right now are the same ones people had about Romo. The fan base was divided on Romo just like they are on Dak. It's almost like Dallas fans have forgotten the label Romo had during his career as a choker. And how many times did we defend him until we were out of breath trying to convince people about how he led the league in fourth quarter comebacks.
Exactly, the mental gymnastics used to raise one above the other is ridiculous....Its like when people say Romo/Dak is no Staubach/Aikman, sure they are not but put either one of them on one of those teams and the chance for choking goes way down for some crazy reason..and before some idiot states the obvious.. no they are not as good but being surrounded by HOF players seems to help the non choke factor alot.

Some of the Romo lovers have tried to spin that he never had good teams. They’ll tell you that if he had the teams Dak had the Cowboys would’ve won several Super Bowls. Lol
How do you know that isn't true?

2016 team was built for Romo. Zeke drafted to replace and exceed Murray. Romo Injured at the last minute. Dak did a superb job with a great team. Played well enough to FINALLY allow Romo to fully heal instead of playing hurt. GREAT JOB DAK!

But....The rookie-led team floundered in the playoffs. Maybe a savvy vet could have done differently. I don't know.

And YOU surely don't either.

"LOL" indeed.

Like I posted earlier, Romo had the same type of team in 2014 that Dak had in 2016. Both teams had arguably the best OL in the entire league and the leagues leading rusher. Murray in 2014 was better than Zeke in 2016. He got one MVP vote. Dak’s team in 2016 lost to Green Bay in the playoffs because of our defense. Romo‘s team lost to Green Bay in 2014 in the playoffs because of our defense. We couldn’t stop Aaron Rodgers. Try watching the games!

Loved watching Romo play. Gave it his all, never quit on a play (which unfortunately was also one of his faults), had his head on straight as far as not getting in trouble, etc. Too bad his body gave up on him, he might have had a shot at a SB in 2016 and later with Zeke racking up NFL rushing titles.

Very good NFL quarterback, just short of great....

A savy vet but what does that have to do with Romo? Romo had plenty of chances to win playoff games and he won 2...the same as Dak. And we already wasted 2 seasons wanting for Romo to prove he was healthy. Why waste a third? We were lucky Dak stepped up that year. I was expecting another 4-12 season.
Not even sure why I am replying. Your response doesn't make any sense. I will try to make heads and tails of it.

Romo usually eithe rjust played hurt...or cam back too early still playing hurt. Dak finally allowed Romo to fully heal. A HEALTHY Romo plays differnet than an injured Romo. like any player. Ask Zeke.

Oh wait...you probably hate him too.

If a Low round rookie played well with that 2016 team....why would you expect a healthy vet to do worse? Because you hate Romo. No other explanation,.

But we are getting off topic here, you see. You lectured others about knowing what would happen while being so assured COCKY about your own assumptions.

Played during the best QB era ever. Brees Brady Manning Rodgers to name a few of the best. Did dam good too. A lot lesser QB's won super bowls but all Romo's fault we didn't?

Pure haters.

I deleted my post because there is no no talking to Romo fans. He can do no wrong in their eyes anyway. And no I don't hate him. I love him as an announcer. I love him as a regular guy. I think his story is great. But he has always been elevated larger than he was in the eyes of many fans. He was a good QB and nothing more. And he didn't play great in a lot of playoff games. Why would I think that 2016 would be any different. He was hurt all of 2015 and 2016 and I'm supposed to believe that by some miracle he's going to do something he never did before. He more than likely would have been injured and Dak would have came in anyway. If Tony was really healthy he would have went to another team after Dallas cut him.

You see I never said "he can do no wrong"

Why are you LYING about what I said?

You accused others of fabrication...then make your own. That is straight up fact.

He often played poorly from playing injured. And getting MORE inured. That's how it works.

You can take your self righteous indignation and shove it right up your ax.

Once again. Typical. And no he played poorly long before he was injured.

Well, this thread went downhill
:lmao:

I rarely use ignore and haven't for a year or two, but I've seen a couple of ignores pop up (don't know who it is) so I know it's gotten ugly and probably personal.

If you think stats matter, you don't know what you're watching.

Dak is AMAZING at racking up garbage stats when games are decided. He's garbage against good defenses in big games. He's the easiest preparation for a defensive coordinator in the league. There is nothing at all special about him.

This^^^^^ I think most fans wanna remember his last 2-3 years, especially 2014. They tend to forget prior to 2014 he went 4 straight seasons w/o a winning record. That label was well documented/known around the league. Even a few players from other teams use mock him
