For the record, I actually do think Romo is now a better QB than Aikman was. I think he will perform well for us in many playoffs to come - whether we win will depend on the team as a whole.

I'll take Romo over Aikman in the regular season any day of the week, but it's tough to argue with Aikman's post season performances. The guy got darn close to a perfect rating in about half a dozen post season games, nobody during that era was better in the post season than Aikman. Nobody.

But Aikman didn't start off that way, so I'm hoping Romo can go out and put up the same sort of performance this time around, then I'll have to fully agree. ;)

Right now though? Best post-season QBs:

1. Joe Montana
2. Troy Aikman
3. Everyone else

If you re-read what I wrote, I didn't say Danny White was forgettable. I was a big fan of his, too.

Second, playoff win or no playoff win - Romo is better than White ever was. That's just the inescapable truth. That's not to say Danny White was a bad QB. It's just that Romo is going to end up in the HOF in the end barring injury. He is already getting his name inserted into the NFL record books in many categories, not just the Cowboys' passing records.

For the record, I actually do think Romo is now a better QB than Aikman was. I think he will perform well for us in many playoffs to come - whether we win will depend on the team as a whole.
No, that is not inescapable truth, it is your OPINION, and you are entitled to it. Others, like myself, have a different OPINION.

All these things that we talk about are more or less opinions because they can't be scientifically tested.

By almost any metric you can name other than opinion, Romo on top of White by a wide margin.

Why don't you just go ahead and start your own Danny White thread and extol his virtues for all the world. This is a thread about Romo and what he has accomplished so far.

Once again, OPINION not fact. This topic is part of this thread and that is what I am speaking to.

Sorry, you do not set the rules for this thread;)

Wow. Despite starting for only 4 seasons, he already appears at least 2 times in every one of those categories, and most of them fall in the top 3. Only one of them ranks as low as #7.

Amazing... even if he keeps this up for only 3-4 more years, you have to seriously consider him for the Hall of Fame IMO. Ring of Honor at the very least. Especially if he wins a Super Bowl or two.

Right, he's Tony Romo. :p:

When all is said and done, I feel that it would be reasonable to mention Romo and Staubach in the same sentence. I think we've yet to see the best that Romo has to offer so far, which is a pretty scary thought for every team not named Cowboys.

That Staubach QB rating just blows me away. I have no idea how he accomplished it in that era. I guess that's why he's a HOFer.
It's also amazing he threw for the most yards and TDs in his career in his last two seaons. Obviously, those were the only two years he played in a 16 game season(he missed 1 game in 78), but it's amazing to think of what he could've done if he had stayed.

Is there a compiled list of all the amazing Romochievements I have seen mentioned about him in threads this season? Like all the long TDs, QB rating stuff, avg. per attempt stuff, November record, etc., etc.?

That would be nice :)

His Wiki page doesn't seem to have it all....

The only record that matters...

Super Bowl Victories

Aikman 3
Staubach 2

game-set-match...

Yeah yeah yeah. Any QB who wears a star will always be judged by the two above.

But you have to admit. Romo for being a undrafted free agent has the skill and the potential to do what those before have done.

My question to you or anybody. With the supporting cast we have now and the salary cap in place. Which QB Aikman or Staubach could be as sucessful as Romo has proven to be?

I think Romo's best is yet to come :)

My reference to Staubach is by no means a put down on Romo. I just am not going to say he is better than Roger (yet). Staubach has his skins on the wall.

I believe Romo gets his first this year :starspin

I agree. Staubach would do very well because(like Romo) could avoid a sack and improvise on the run. Aikman was more of a pocket passer and a good one at that. Very Accurate and precise. But I don't know how sucessfull he would be behind our oline compared to the one he played behind. Which IMO was one of the best ever assembled.

But no matter how well Romo does. He will always be judged by the players that proceeded him. But he's heading in the right direction and putting the team in position to be sucessfull. Something we haven't had in place for quite some time.

Go Cowboys!!

When Romo wins a SB we'll probably put him in a class with Staubach and Aikman. Romo is going to finish his career as an all time great in Dallas and have his name in that ring.
