Correct, Gale sayers is a good example of a player that should not have made it on what I mean he had no production no rings never was on a great team and yet somehow that's something that Ezekiel Elliott did in 1 1/2 seasons so this guy got in because of his name and his projections and you should never be allowed in the Hall of Fame on what you might do like for example Bo Jackson I mean he's not in right but same thing they let GAIL Sayers in Bo Jackson had the same thing happened to him injury shortened but had all the talent in the world to be a Hall of Famer but you can't do that
Gale Sayers definitely deserves to be in hall of fame!!

So so sorry and I wholeheartedly disagree the man did not play long enough and put up enough stats he didn't win any rings he didn't win anything he does not belong in the Hall of Fame that's the point you can't hand out awards like that for unfinished incomplete careers.. You can keep posting all the great game he had here there what he looked like I don't care you have to be productive and or win rings or both to get into the Hall of Fame they allowed him in the Hall of Fame on what the possibilities could have been and that is not how the Hall of Fame is set up they made it a popularity contest and it should be about high level elite production and or rings or both put together is an automatic.. There are people here saying that Eli Manning shouldn't get a whole fame bid because he wasn't that great during the regular season but I think he did plenty in their regular season and then you add the two rings in and he should get in the Hall of Fame for that if a guy like GAIL Sayers that had an incomplete career super short there was nothing on his resume that should have screamed Hall of Fame got in there it leaves the door open for guys like Tony Romo or those guys on the list that we saw up there Randall Cunningham and Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick which hurts my heart all three of them are Eagles Oh my God how's that happening...
I just think you're missing my point the man had an incomplete career I don't care what his potential was or if he had some great games and he was lost to injury part of the game is Emmett Smith wasn't as impressive as Barry Sanders or some other running backs but because he and Jason Whitten didn't miss games that's part of it longevity is a very important factor you played that long in the league and put up those kind of numbers and you have some rings that that's how you get in you can't get in by incomplete to be determined type nonsense...

I'm just gonna leave it there because what can argue all day and you're never gonna bring me to your side the man may have had potential it never proved out just like Bo Jackson you can't have one in and not the other because they both have super super projections but they both got injured both couldn't play anymore and that's where it ends for me no Hall of Fame for either one..
First, lean how to spell his name. Gale not Gail. Second, Gale was absolutely one of the best of all time despite his short career.

Why should any player be judged by the company he kept? For instance, I think it's a safe bet that Ware wouldn't have gotten in, had he not played for the Broncos. Did he become a better player there, or was he surrounded by a better team?

I guess the Denver GM wasn't throwing away draft picks.

Marino career rating 86.4

Romo career rating 97.1
Great, now figure out the stat inflation from two different rule sets.

Do you want to make the claim right here that Romo is on par with Dan Marino let alone better?

Steve McNair and Rich Gannon were League MVPs and took their teams to a SB. I wonder if that gets them more consideration among the QBs.

McNabb was in the very good category for me. His trip to the SB and multiple NFC Championship games, looks good on the resume.

All fans' opinions are irrelevant on the matter. It makes for conversation, good and bad. The Board of Selectors and/or its Senior Committee's opinions are only relevant.

There were many years of some people, including Cowboys fans, who proclaimed ex-players like Drew Pearson and Chuck Howley belonged in the Hall of the Very Good. That opinion appeared like it would remain forever true.

Both men are in Pro Football Hall of Fame now. That is all that matters in the end.
Can’t remember any Cowboys fans thinking Drew Pearson wasn’t Hall of Fame worthy. I always thought he was a lock, maybe not on the first ballot due to his career numbers but at least within the first few years of eligibility. I watched his entire career. He was the greatest third down/clutch receiver of the 1970s. He was on the receiving end of one of the greatest plays in NFL history, the Hail Mary. He made the key block freeing Tony Dorsett on his 99 yard TD run. He made Clint Longley a household name on Thanksgiving day 1974. He was a tear away jersey away from changing the course of history in the 81 NFC title game. He was a big part of Roger Staubach‘s Hall of Fame career. As for Chuck Howley I only witnessed the last two seasons of his career in 1972 and 1973. He was well past his prime by then.

Mike Vick?

i watched that mans whole career and as exciting as he was his qb play wasnt hall of fame worthy

Romo? Love him..Hall of Fame? no

McNabb? Maybe

Cunningham? ehhh kinda yes kinda no maybe..ok yes

Bulger? No

Delhomme? no

Jeff Garcia? no

Doug Flutie? No..great story but no

Rich Gannon....i have a soft spot..40% yes

McNair? A thousand times yes!!!
Rich Gannon and D'Andre Swift attended the same high school.

My biggest memory of McNabb is him puking up his chunky soup in the Super Bowl. If McNabb kept his **** together Brady might be 0-4 against the NFCE in Super Bowls.

Eli getting in on the strength of "his" SB wins would be as much, if not more of a travesty than Romo not getting in for his lack of SB wins.

"Team game" is either a thing or not a thing. Can't have it both ways.

In my opinion, Jim Plunkett should be pissed off if it ever happens. And I do think Manning will get inducted sooner than later.

QUARTERBACKS (10): Marc Bulger, Randall Cunningham, Jake Delhomme, Doug Flutie,
Rich Gannon, Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair, Tony Romo, Michael Vick.

Not a single QB on that list belongs in the NFL Hall of Fame

I certainly don’t see all the posts, but I’m willing to wager that the fans who didn’t think Drew Pearson was Hall of Fame worthy weren’t around during the 70s. They couldn’t have possibly watched his career as it happened. A lot of younger fans are too fixated on career numbers and don’t understand that the game has changed over the years.
