I certainly don’t see all the posts, but I’m willing to wager that the fans who didn’t think Drew Pearson was Hall of Fame worthy weren’t around during the 70s. They couldn’t have possibly watched his career as it happened. A lot of younger fans are too fixated on career numbers and don’t understand that the game has changed over the years.
Agreed.

Eli getting in on the strength of "his" SB wins would be as much, if not more of a travesty than Romo not getting in for his lack of SB wins.

"Team game" is either a thing or not a thing. Can't have it both ways.
I think Eli will get in because voters are fixated on Super Bowls when it comes to QBs. I absolutely do not think he should.

I think Romo's best shot is putting in a long career as a color commentator. Not sure he'll stay with it long enough for that or be able to maintain popularity as someone like Madden did in this day and age of social media attacks.

Romo deserves it as much as anyone on THAT list, Romo falls into the same trench that many Dallas QB's do.."He aint no Roger or Troy" but when your objective about it, thats a HUGE house to lift for most QB's who ever played....

In my opinion, Jim Plunkett should be pissed off if it ever happens. And I do think Manning will get inducted sooner than later.
Great comparison. I was just beginning my life as a football fan when Plunket was drafted by the Patriots. He would have every right to blow a gasket watching Eli get in. Which I agree, he most likely will his first year of eligibility.

Jim Plunkett didn’t beat the goat in two Super Bowls and he only had one Super Bowl MVP compared to two for Eli. Unlike Eli, Jim Plunkett wasn’t in the top 10 all-time passers when he retired. Plus, the first 8 years of Plunkett‘s career were dismal. The HOF will happen for Eli, but probably not on the first ballot.

What about Plunkett then?
Plunkett is definitely a fair argument against that, and I hope someone plays that card when it comes to Eli's eligibility. But Ken Stabler eventually got in, so I could see it happening for both Plunkett and Eli. Stabler's teams had a good run of success, though, with five consecutive championship game appearances.

Despite his poor overall numbers for this era, Eli is a two-time Super Bowl MVP. His playoff numbers for those two Super Bowl years also were excellent. He may have mostly sucked otherwise, but those will curry him some favor.

Meh...just an opinion...by fans of the team...allegedly.

There's no harm in it why the sourpus?
Correct it’s an opinion and I don’t agree with it. I’m certainly not angry about it. I could care less how many fans think Romo should be in the Hall of Fame.
