But Ken Stabler eventually got in...
True. Stabler was finalist in 1990 and 1991. Did not get in. Waited over a decade. Was a finalist in 2003. Did not get in. Waited over a decade. Was inducted in 2016. I have a strong feeling Manning will not receive the same treatment.

Great, now figure out the stat inflation from two different rule sets.

Do you want to make the claim right here that Romo is on par with Dan Marino let alone better?
Not at all. Just showing that there's more than one way to judge a QB, and SB wins shouldn't be one of them, since that's mostly a team accomplishment.

Apparently you do...care.
I don’t start these Romo Hall of Fame threads, I just contribute with my opinion. I contribute to a lot of topics here. I come here to talk football. Sorry if my opinion angers you. Appears a lot of my opinions bother you.

QUARTERBACKS (10): Marc Bulger, Randall Cunningham, Jake Delhomme, Doug Flutie,
Rich Gannon, Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair, Tony Romo, Michael Vick.

I don't envision any of these QB candidates making the Modern-Era Player Finalist list of 15 that gets pared down on Super Bowl weekend.

Intended or not, I believe one reason why he partnered with his brother for the Manningcast was keeping his presence front and center before the Board of Selectors until his eligibility hits.
You wanna hurt Eli's chances? Show the Selection Committee his attempt at hosting SNL. They'll turn on him!

Right? There is not a one that deserves it. Bulger really? If I had one I would say McNabb. That’s it.
I agree you can’t let Michael Vick, in because of the dogs . He will be the right choice. Maybe he paid his dues I don’t know.

Plunkett is definitely a fair argument against that, and I hope someone plays that card when it comes to Eli's eligibility. But Ken Stabler eventually got in, so I could see it happening for both Plunkett and Eli. Stabler's teams had a good run of success, though, with five consecutive championship game appearances.

Despite his poor overall numbers for this era, Eli is a two-time Super Bowl MVP. His playoff numbers for those two Super Bowl years also were excellent. He may have mostly sucked otherwise, but those will curry him some favor.
Ken Stabler had the highest completion percentage over his career of any of the great QBs of his era. He won a Super Bowl against a future Hall of Fame QB. His Raiders team ended the Dolphin’s long winning streak. He was also a great come from behind QB. He was a much better QB than Jim Plunkett.

Great comparison. I was just beginning my life as a football fan when Plunket was drafted by the Patriots. He would have every right to blow a gasket watching Eli get in. Which I agree, he most likely will his first year of eligibility.
Jim Plunkett was a mediocre QB for half his career, and doesn't have a single post-season award. Eli Manning is 10th all-time in passing yards and passing touchdowns, had four Pro Bowls, and is a 2x Super Bowl MVP. Eli is getting in, Plunkett is not.

Every guy on that list had a YEAR, but not a single one had a CAREER. McNabb, McNair and Romo had maybe the longest career runs? But none of them won it all.

I think if Tony could have stayed healthy he's have a better chance. He played the equivalent of 8 full seasons worth of games because of injuries. Still is 25th all time in TDs. Not too shabby.

HOFer Dan Fouts has just a couple more TDs and played in Air Coryell passing offense for 14 years. Romo had more TDs than Steve Young (14yrs), Donovan McNabb (11 yrs) and Jim Kelly (10yrs). All pass happy offenses.

Can you believe Joe Montana (15yrs) only has 25 more TDs than Romo?

And Joe Namath is in the HOF. 62-63 record 50% career completion % and almost 50 more picks than TD's. But he won a SB.

This Thread explains everything…The Cowboys generation 30yrs and younger are clueless when it comes to HOF Dallas Cowboys Franchise QBs. If Tony gets in then Danny White should be first ballot HOF

Carson Wentz has thrown about as many TD's as Roger Staubach. But it's an era thing, right?

Marc Bulger, LOL. This field is terrible.

Vick is probably the strongest contender of the bunch - the guy it's hardest to tell the story of the game without. When Daniel Jones tucks the ball and runs, what do his teammates call him? But Vick's prison sentence will prevent the NFL from honoring him as a HOFer.

Wait. Who else does not believe Curtis Martin belong in the Hall of Fame?
As I know how intelligent you are I'm not gonna sling some immature personal insult.
I'll throw out several names to which I think were just as talented as runners as Martin and you are totally entitled to your own opinion.
But to me and like I said just my personal opinion, Martin was no better than:
Shaun Alexander, Stephen Jackson, Tiki Barber, Cory Dillon, Jamal Lewis, Ricky Watters or even Ricky Williams.
Heck, Clinton Portis even gets an honorable mention to Martin.

If your opinion is based on Martin's longevity stats or whatever I can respect that. I do not see him as one of the best to ever run with a football.

But like you said my opinion means squat.
Respectfully

Jake Delhime?

I mean.....is there a typo with that list? Is that like a list of QBs who will be competing in the next Dancing With The Stars or something?

That CAN'T be for the HOF.

If so...the HOF has become meaningless.

I mean....I'd take Kirk Cousins over a handful of those ham-and-eggers.

Some of those guys went back and forth from starting to being backups. Sure....Tom Brady STARTED OFF as a backup, but once he became a starter he STAYED a starter.

If your a QB in the HOF, at no point in ur career AFTER being a starter should you have to take a backup job just to stay in the league.
