are you joking or does he really play soccer?

I have not heard yet about this year, but in previous years absolutely. Last year, I am not sure if anyone remembers but he took pictures with some guys outside.

He and a couple other players did it to help stay conditioned.

are you going to freak out now?

As long as he isn't playing golf in December and January I couldn't give a rats *** what he does the rest of the year.
It wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

Neither do I. Saying that he should forsake the game for good is an extremist position I don't subscribe to. A day on the links has got to be better than stuffing cheese nachos in your mouth. That said, he needs to pick his spots a little better.

True.

It's not so much golf as his tin ear and bizzare decision making. Cabo in March? Fine. Cabo a week before an important playoff game? Bad. Golfing in March? Fine. Golfing with your girlfriend's father mere days after a devastating loss to Philly? Bad. As Roger and Troy have emphasized repeatedly this off-season, appearances matter.

Just curious but how many days would have been approperiate for him to sit around, sulk, and cry about the loss before playing golf was ok and not thought of as bad?

4 days? 10? A month?

I really don't see where the amount of time matters when it comes to the loss. Was waiting a month going to somehow mean that the loss hurt him more than it did because he played golf 3 days later?

I doubt it.

How about three weeks? Or is that asking too much? It wasn't just the soul-crushing loss to Philly but also his cavalier comments after the game, which rightly drew the attention (and consternation) of Roger and Troy. So for him to be seen enjoying himself when most fans were still crying in their beers tells me that he's either oblivious to everything around him (doubtful) or he just didn't give a ****.

Then you've never worked in PR. You must realize by now that this team has an image problem.

Based on his own comments, there's no evidence that the loss hurt him at all. He went straight into "aw shucks" mode, which is also how he rationalized his turnovers against Baltimore. I used the term "tin ear" for a very good reason.

I like Tony, but he has a lot of things to work on--and not just on the field.

can't disagree with you more. these guys get played a fortune to play football thats all they should do. no golf, no recreation, no girlfriends, no distractions! i only want these guys to play, train, eat and sleep. and even then they shouldn't be eating nice food or dreaming in case that distracts them from football, maybe dreaming about football is ok but i'm going to say no just in case

so, Romo can't take a break from his job to do something else competitive, yet you can take a break from your job and post on the internet?

BRILLIANT!!

sulking over a loss doesn't make you better.

getting over that loss and realizing what you did wrong makes you better...

Didn't someone just post an interview with Tony the other day on these forums where he was asked about those comments, and how they made fans and such mad, and he acknowledged he understood exactly why they felt that way, and that if he saw someone do it that's exactly how he'd take it too but that he said those things at the time because he was trying to put up a front to try and make himself feel better about how crappy the season had ended?

I could have swore that there was an interview up from that, I think on that Babe thing where he went over the 10 things about Romo, so that interview alone tells me he knows how things are going to be taken and that he understands how things are. I don't need him crying for a month, and being a recluse, to know that the loss hurt him and that he hated it.

And I certainly haven't worked PR so I wouldn't know anything about how they'd want something like this handled but i think the media, and the fans, talk out of both sides of their face on issues like this.

Romo gets crucified for not being emotional enough, or showing enough hurt, after the loss to the Eagles but Owens cries after the loss to the Giants and he's crucified for being a giant sissy.

My words exactly.

I think he is showing toughness and emotional well-being, by keeping things in perspective. If he was one to dwell in anguish, then how could he possibly bounce back after a string of mistakes. A good example is the Bills game in 07. How many interceptions did he throw? And he manged to keep his head on and pull-out a win by moving the ball when he wasn't actually turning it over.

This kind of mental focus comes from concentration that is gained by hours of practice on the golf course. I say that golf compliments his performance on the football field.
