You know that old cliche, "Hollywood couldn't write a script like this"?
Scene 1 - An unknown voice narrates the plight of his fandom.
Setting - Disillusioned
As a younger fan born in the early 90's, I've never seen them experience any form of substantial success. All the jadedness we have as fans is a result of the post dynasty era of mediocrity and false hope. That is the only team I've ever experienced.
Your favorite players are Staubach, Aikman, Emitt, Irvin, and Dorsett. These are the legends I read and heard about, but never got to see play for my team. To me they might as well just be a myth, folk lore passed down from a time when "America's Team" might have actually meant something.
Don't worry, I'm not jealous. I take pride in my dedication to the Cowboys. It's a badge of honor to support a team that finds inventive ways to always let you down. If you ever want to understand why fans still turn out for a Browns game, just ask a Cowboys fan in his 20's. We're no better.
Do you know who my favorite players are? Of course it's guys like Ware, Witten, Barber, and Bryant. I wonder if one day they will be folk lore; players I can talk about longingly to fans who might find themselves in a particularly bad dry spell. I'm a bit of a pessimist, so I don't really think so. Sure they will be remembered, but as of now they are just the best players on a series of losing teams. I still love them though, because they're all I've ever had.
What if there was one player that could change how we one day look back on this team?
Scene 2 - A Weary, forgotten Quarterback Returns.
Setting - Redemption
