Oh wow.

From reading the title of the thread I thought it was a Tony/Carrie thread.

Whew! :D

I see many have repsonded to what I said and like I figured, many are missing my point. To reiterate, do many realize that we were 8-4 last year? Do many realize we had 3 of our last 4 at home? Do I need to remind you we finished 9-7? I am NOT saying I am unhappy with 3-0.....all I am saying is that do NOT sell the NFL short. We will have to develop another weapon before it is all said and done, because the NFL is not going to let Owens and Witten dominate them all year. I am just hoping Glenn comes back healthy enough to warrant the attenion of the defense, thus making everyone's lives on offense a little easier. Tony is making a TON of plays and all I am saying is that we cannot and should not expect him to do this week in and week out. I do not expect us to go 16-0...I know we will lose. But we have had hot starts 3 out of the 4 years Parcells was here. Go look it up. I think 8-3 the 1st year. 7 - 3 year 3. And 8 - 4 last year. The bottom collapsed on all of those seasons. That is why I even though I am ELATED...I am still a little cautious. That is all I am saying.

We won with Aikman-Emmitt-Irvin-Novacek. We're winning with Romo-Barber/jj-TO-Witten. Sounds good to me. :)

I know we need another or shall I say a stronger WR on the other side, but let's just not pull the string on it yet, plus didn't Parcells say you couldn't just dial up 1-800-receiver? ;)

This whole thread is dumb....an isolated play where the defender ALMOST picks off a ball and that is enough to justify an entire thread about our QB????

if the throw was a little bit more to the other direction, TO most likely would have had a TD, and we'd be like:

"What the F?"

And be amazed at how Romo and TO are lighting it up..

And then the tv would go to to the Snickers commercial, where everybody yells,

"FEAAASSSSSTTTTT!!"

I understand what the OP was trying to relay.

Its not a bashing or being critical.

It was a risky play close to our goal line and we do not want to see it taken back for 7.

Not criticizin. I think it was more of a possible concern as the season goes on.

Some have blown this thread out of proportion.

If it had been taken back for 7.. then the thread title would have been "Romo was unlucky":D

You forgot one very integral aspect to your argument... Our OL is light years ahead of what it was last year, and it is starting to dominate...

Our line is wearing the opposing lines out, and when that happens, you really are a beast... we don't collapse in the second half... we explode in the second half...

remember also the play to Sam Hurd that beat the Giants... when teams focus too much on Witten and TO, we just shift the attack..

Our OL is definitley better...BUT Romo avoided a lot of sacks...lookit...I LOVE the Dallas Cowboys...I just don't want our year to end like it has 3 out of the last 4 years...I know we are good enough to overwhelm bad teams....I am not looking past bad teams...but it will be very intresting to see what happens when we play a defensive guru like Bill Bellicheat...we don't even have to score 38 to convince me...but if we move the ball consistently and score 24 points on that defense...I will shut up about developing another threat on the other side of TO...but it we are stonewalled, we will all know that we have to make a change to play for the big prize

We've been trying to develop a couple of young players already in Austin and Hurd, and now Stanback. But I agree that we need another star or a future star there, this comes in the next draft.

You obviously haven't watched a game this year-when TO is doubled, Witten, Hurd, and Crayton are getting mismatches. When Witten is doubled, TO, Hurd, and Crayton are getting mismatches.

Who else do you want? More FF players? Last I checked-the roster has only 53 guys.

how many 'threats' did we have behind irvin? harper was good but he ran away to be #1 and fell off the face of the earth and got fat later on. (not that there's anything wrong with that!) but quick - who was a WR on the 93 team after harper we were developing!!!

then in 95, when harper was off on his sabbatical, who was our starting WR next to irvin? no peeking, i mean it's such an important position we MUST address then the people who've held it before we should know.

the answers to these questions is 1 person. kevin williams. in 95 our #2 WR caught 38 balls. in 93, he caught 7 so look at what all that development did for us. : )

it would be *nice* to have another thread on the other side of TO, but how many "legit" #1 threats are out there?

we're fortunate to have a dominate #1 and 2 #2s in hurd and crayton if we need to. not that "sexy" well how "sexy" was kevin williams, man? with glenn in the line up soon enough we're done, game set and match.

we've got witten, the best TE in the NFC or close to it.
we've got TO, a very dominate WR in his own right in this league and yes, a future HOF'er.
we've got barber out of the backfield

those are THREE very legitimate threats many teams don't have access to.

we do. yet we whine. we've got the top offense in the NFC and people whine.

romo isn't perfect, people whine.

let's learn to take the good with the bad and inject some common sense and balance into the equation before we go running off saying we must develop a #2 WR or we're doomed.

we got 3 superbowls in the 90s with harper and williams and the only way those two go to canton is bus or taxi.

we're fine. put the worry stick down and enjoy the success we've long been without.

I disagree. There is a difference between a "gunslinger" and a "play maker". Favre is a "gunslinger". And Romo will never make as many mistakes as Favre did. It's not his game.

You really can't apply the connotation that is associated with "gunslinger" to Romo.

Going by his current numbers and performances to date, he's more of a "play maker". :)

What I meant by gunslinger is making things happen on your own with your athletic ability when the play breaks down.

When the pocket collapses and you improvise and still pick up a first down on sheer determination alone, that is a gunslinger.

I didn't mean someone that is careless with the ball.

I didn't mean gunslinger as a bad thing.

But if you remember, Romo did make the mistakes at the end of last season that Favre does, ... fumbles and picks.

Romo is not your conventional "in the pocket" passer.

He moves, he dips, he shakes and bakes, he sidesteps, he throws falling down, .. but he still finds the receiver.

Maybe our definition of gunslinger is different.
