What's your proof that they weren't? The burden of proof is on YOU, not on me.

Were Marino or Favre available to either coach? Uh, no they weren't. Because teams that have "stat machine QBs" tend to hold onto them, what with the interest in winning and all.

How many proven "stat machine QBs" do you think are generally available to be plucked off of the QB tree?

Hey, have it your way. I mean, you don't agree, that's cool but I will point out that Coach Landry could have drafted Marino but we didn't. We took Jim Jeffcoat instead. We could have drafted Favre as well but we didn't. we drafted 3 players ahead of him.

I think the fact that they coached the game the way they did is proof enough but if you feel differently, that's fine. I'm not going to waste a lot of time on a silly argument with you. You don't agree. The world is big enough for that.

Offense cannot do squat? What planet do you live on? 5th in scoring in the league during this period is SQUAT?

I know your need to hate Romo is obviously great, but come on you are now in La La land. You make AL Davis look sane. Like in his last year...

I think you are one of ufcrules 800 posters that are on ignore! lol

How much did you pay for it?

You're asking the wrong guy and have you seen the price of cigarettes lately? I quit years ago, but I pay attention to prices:

I swear one price tag at the local Walmart said "$Your Soul.99" next to a pack of Camels.

Camels weren't even that good!

Just shows you that stats are not the end all be all when determining a players worth. You can have great stats but then make a horrible mistake that costs your team a game, or not show up in crunch time. Stats will say you were good, the eye says you sucked. I will trust my eyes and not stats.

The Romo stat people are like the fools at the combine that drool over fast 40's and bench press reps.

That's awesome and everything, but it doesn't equal a good football player. Trust your eyes before a manipulation of statistics.

ufcrules, would you trade for brees right now straight up? because im pretty sure he went 7-9 when he had a defensive passer rating like ours. you realize no qb has ever won a super bowl with defensive passer rating of what ours is/has been right? but romo sucks because he can't do it...

not to mention when was the last time brady won a sb? what about peyton? just having the best qb in the league doesn't guarantee you a superbowl. 31 qb's every year lose when it matters most that includes rodgers, brady, manning, brees, etc.... in the last 6 seasons, brady has 0 superbowls, peyton 0 superbowls, etc..

switching an awesome qb for an awesome qb wont do squat when you have 0 defense

True.

But just because a defense is poor doesn't mean the QB doesn't deserve any blame at all either.

You didn't ask me, but I would take Brees straight up for Romo. He probably wouldn't win with this defense either, but he's a better QB.

We would be going to the playoffs this year if we had Brees. No doubt in my mind. Brees alone would get us a few more wins where Romo choked. Division would be wrapped up by now.

In the last 3 games we are 5th in points scored, despite the defense only being 26th in takeaways. We have the 7th fewest Giveaways in that time span, and yet still rank 30th in points allowed. They don't need an excuse.

More silly stats. Just watch the games man.... everyone knows the defense is horrific. Watch Tony Romo and the offense. Did you not watch the GB game? Did you not see Romo over throw and under throw Dez 5 freaking times in the game? Romo has looked bad since the Denver game. Even if we had an average defense, our team would not be going very far.

I know everything's not about stats but man, Romo has played very well on the games we´ve lost this year, yes he was bad this past sunday but it's ridiculous the amount of heat this guy gets as a choker, loser, not clutch.

Tony Romo is again in crosshairs for his late interceptions against the Packers. Here’s an interesting note from Mike Nyberg. Tony Romo has a 104.5 passer rating in losses for the Cowboys this year. Here is Nyberg’s chart showing the passer rating for other notable quarterbacks in losses.

To put that in perspective, six players have a higher passer rating in all games than Romo does in losses.

http://thebiglead.com/2013/12/17/tony-romo-has-a-104-5-passer-rating-in-losses-this-season/

Here's a better on for you:
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2013/quarterbacks-game-winning-drive-study
This was written by Scott Kacsmar. Look what he says about our guy Romo concerning cane winning drives:
Is there anything more I can write about Romo's close wins? Well, there are some bad signs here for him. He's had the third-best field position and ninth-smallest deficit. Passing stats look good, but he's 20th in yards and 19th in points per drive. That's very poor. He's fourth in field goal rate. He's 18th in WP and has the single-easiest GWD of the 416 studied.

Powerful.
I'd like to see a good argument against.

Hmmm... I did see Romo over-throw and under-throw Dez multiple times. I also saw how bad that interception going to Miles was delivered.

But how is the scoring rank explained? Something had to be going right at some point...

Did you know the 2 biggest blown leads in cowboys history have happened under tony romo?

People forget that in 2011 alone, the cowboys blew 5, 4th quarter leads. And the defense was wayyyy better...so obviously that's not an excuse.

I've watched those games, and romo is an average to below average QB who chokes. Doesn't matter how you chalk it up.

This should earn an affectionate Percy Howard head noogie.

There are three types of Romo detractors.

1) Frustrated Cowboys fans. Romo's the face of the team. Just do it, Romo. Unleash all our talent. GO COWBOYS!!

2) The lazy. They don't want to put in any effort to see the real issues. The Cowboys lost Sunday? Isn't Romo their QB? Man, he sucks.

3) Cowboys haters. They're not interested in what's right or fair. Romo has star. Romo bad.

I watched him throw two picks Sunday in the closing minutes and it didn't change my opinion of him in the slightest. He's not a perfect QB. He has his share of bad games. Even bad stretches of games at times. But he's consistently been one of the most productive QBs in the league since he took the job. Despite all that's working against him. The single hardest place to win in the entire NFL. He brought a knife to a gun fight his entire career.

Romo needs off of this team if he ever wants to succeed. He needs to go to a real team, with a real HC and GM.

He has wasted enough of his time here.

Man- Some good arguments going on in this thread!

I don't disagree with you...

I went to Westlake High's rival in Austin, TX: Bowie High-school and graduated just as Brees started tearing up the HS landscape.
Westlake HS already had a long history of football success and he kept the engine of that school roaring. I haven't paid attention to the old scene's HS football in years so I don't know how it goes now, but I would bet that Westlake still has a superior sports program in relation to much of the state.

My school's team would lose ugly to them every time. All four years of his tenure there, if I remember correctly.
My good friend spent weeks bragging to anyone how he tackled Brees on one play.

I bet he's still bragging to his 30-something friends to this day...
