Romo is a warrior, I'll give him that, but if he's not careful, he's going to have a very painful post football life.

Let the guy sit and heal up no matter the situation IMO.

If Dak does well, more reason for them to let Tony sit and heal up.

If Dak does bad, they get another high end draft pick and Tony can still sit and heal.

Tony has given his best and his body is wearing down because of it, there was a time he was the one who had to carry this team because of their lack of drafting Offensive Line. Now they have shored that up and another QB should be able to do something. Either Dak does well and shows enough to say he is the future or they get another high draft pick and go after a Franchise QB.

I think there needs to be a compromise.

As long as Dallas wins then let him rest. When Romo feels like he is ready then let him play.

I don't understand why so many people are caught up in the 6-10 week headline that the media started when the Cowboys have always said he is day to day.

I think another aspect to seriously consider, he is not good at all when healthy and can take his team out of games faster than any QB on the planet. It's hard to imagine how effective he will be if playing hurt/scared.

None of us know what the MRI looks like and QBs have come back from this injury and played a couple of weeks later.

I think the 6-10 week drama was just a bunch of media bs.
Yes. I think that timeline is based on a complete break of the bone and not a hairline fracture.

Path to the a Sports Journalism Pulitzer.......
Steps
1) write a Dallas Cowboys/Tony Romo article of regurgitated info
2) get a few hundred thousand clicks, heck...maybe a million plus
3) update resume with your expansive following
4) move from yahoo to another sport reporting outfit or even go freelance
5) rinse, repeat....

getting past my cynicism.....I say Romo is ready to return week 5
And that's pretty much how it's done these days. Hope your right on the return time.

They were quoting their consulting docs that had no inside knowledge or visual evidence. It happens in everything now, including catastrophes and disasters, get the body count up and we'll correct it later but we must be first above all else, being correct is a secondary consideration.

Jerry addressed this issue on his radio show this morning. He said" he's not ruling out anything" meaning he could return at anytime and why he was left on the roster .

If we struggle early this season expect him to return early is my hunch . Jerry certainly won't stop him if Romo is determined.

If watching Romo during the pretend season when Dak was wowing the league, if he does that Sunday, expect a miracle recovery. And I am joking, Romo will come back as soon as he's cleared because that's who he is. He doesn't think any other QB can lead his team as well as he can and he has visual proof.

I would have liked for him to have taken us to more playoffs and won more games like everyone else wants but when I watch this game, I look for intangibles. Players that make me stand up and take notice and not just because of their play but the way they play the game. Players that remove the $ from the game that so many announcers want to keep foremost. Players that take me back to when these guys had to have part-time jobs to support their pro football habit. Players that could only be taken from the field injured and some refused that, as he tried in SEA.

Yeah, they hate the backwards cap and the trip to Cabo and the "if this is the worst thing to happen to me in my life" statement and the mistakes, the "what the hell was that" throws he'll make 2-3 times a game, like to call him a choker and never mention the comeback wins and competitive level of the man. But one thing you will never hear them mention, his lack of courage and willingness to take one for his team. And when he comes back, he'll still stand in there and hold it too long trying to make a play with little regard for his safety. And I will continue to complain about that.

He's not my favorite Cowboys QB or the best but there's no other player that has ever worn that Star that I would want in my foxhole more than Tony. It is just a game...until someone makes you take notice of something more important than that within it.
Golf clap .

Just a note because we've got some new guys here. Sharing ideas is great, but we do have guidelines against intentionally antagonizing the CZ community, and the are enforced. So fair warning.
Point taken. No disrespect to anyone here, I just want to see the Cowboys win. I think they can do it now!

The NFL wants Romo back. He's not only good for press, he symbolizes something beyond the glory and the money, Romo is the Everyman QB of the NFL he, like Rothliesberger, speak to something lost with so many players on the Injury List weekly, toughness. Those two QBs would have easily fit in when it was more game than business.

Great, im glad he is doing ok. In terms of football, horrible news as he will just run the team into the ground like he has done his ENTIRE career. It's going to be interesting after seeing Dak light it up... And then Romo comes back and starts with his customary pick 6s and boneheaded plays.
You may want to look closer at the actual facts than your emotions, Gabe.
The teams wins WAY more with him.
He actually has some the best clutch stats vs any QB in NFL history.

Some of the turnovers in the past--though relatively rare compared to many QBs--are so painful for us fans that we magnify then by 10x.
I get it, but it's not reality.

I do not care about the media BS ....... I saw him get hit and lay completely still for almost 3 minutes ....... they cantry toplay it off as much as they want but he was hurt. He is a 36 year old with a twice broke back and a thrice broke collarbone.

But we will see ....... because the team will rush him back as soon as they legally can.

Good news! I get the love affair with Dak, but it is not hard to understand that Romo playing will be the best thing for him and the Cowboys for the near future. Romo gives this team the best chance to win this year. And also provides Dak with some much needed learning time. This is by far the best case scenario for the Cowboys and their future. And Romo should and will play as soon as he is ready.

Romo has played poorly coming back from injury (See San Fran game in '14 or Carolina game '15). Hopefully Dak can gets some wins so we're not pressured to bring him back before he's ready.

Season hasn't even started yet and people saying to play for high draft pick......what

I don't care if it's Romo, Dak or Sanchez I'm tired of this franchise being laughed at. Losing is not what we are built on and this losers mentality is sickening. We have a talented enough team to do some damage this year. Yea I get our defense isn't great but our offense should be. It's insane to think some have giving up on the season

Can we play some games first and see where we are. Sad to see we have fallen with these fans loser mentality and I'm not saying be rah rah cheerleader but dang come on guys. We can and should win the division. Make the playoffs and anything is possible

Romo needs post season success to go with his HOF type numbers.

We have got to have more playoff success.. We have got to start being one of the last 4 teams left standing at the end of the year.

It's not Romo's fault that we havent had more playoff success but he is judged by a lot of people for the lack of post season success.

To be fair Romo came back last year and won his first game back against Miami. Problem was he had a short week and played Carolina. I so feel it was better to pay him against Miami and sit him on Thanksgiving then let him play the Commanders. Would gave him 2 weeks rest after first game back

Coach, we definitely have some drama this year with our potential QB controversy. Should be a fun year. Ha
