I predicted after I ate half a bottle of Cayenne Pepper Hotsauce this morning with my breakfast burritos that my stomach would have issues. I was 100% correct.

In all fairness, you never specified the type of cookie you wanted, so I'd cry fowl if I were you. Maybe you wanted an Oreo? I think it's unfair that Yeagermeister assumed that you wanted a striped chocolate cookie... work with me here...

As a proud long time supporter of Tony Romo, as well as an avid supporter of the current quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, I can say that I was one of his first believers. That is, I thought he had the potential to be great as he occupied the 3rd string quarterback position. Then, low and behold, he gets named the 2nd string over Henson and eventually unseats potential Hall of Famer, Drew Bledsoe.

How many posters can honestly say they believed in him from the beginning?

And if you didn't believe in him from the beginning, at what point did you begin to believe in him, if at all? And what reasons, if any, do you believe in Tony Romo right now?

No, he's not perfect. But I think we'd be hard pressed to find many posters who now disapprove of our quarterback situation. I just want to hear some feedback from those who have come around to support TR, and what were the key factors in the change of heart?

The title is a little misleading and loaded, I admit. So the focus isn't really on Drew Henson, rather our current situation.

However, if you feel we'd be better of with Henson as our current quarterback, you can say that too.

Cheers

I thought we gave up on Clint Stoerner too soon. Oh well. And a few years back I liked this kid that Dallas had, I think his last name was Rodriquez or something like that. He played in a few preseason games and then was gone.

Romo is a pleasant surprise but I thought he was just a third string possible career backup type. I just wanted some "magic" in my qb. There were several times when Quincy could have showed some magic and didn't. Romo has the "magic". But darn if he isn't trying to undermine himself.

I took notice of Romo in the preseason prior to his unseating of Bledsoe. I liked his moxie and noticed his release was astoundingly fast. I dismissed the latter to "well they're running simple plays vs scrubs", so his decisions were "already" made where to throw the ball.

Then his interview at a Cowboys radio roadshow prior to a game (can't remember which one). I was listening to him and thinking this guy is one charming, bright, cocky S.O.B. Maybe he does know something we don't know.

Then he went gangbusters. But:

I really think the dropped snap in Seattle, plus the rough close to '07 has done some serious damage to his psyche by taking the fun out of the game for him as he now knows what the stakes really are. When he took criticism last season and TO started squawking he looked tired down the stretch- unmotivated. He needs to find himself again and I think TO's dismissal will help him do just that.

sadly, I must admit that I only BEGAN to believe in Romo when I saw him throw in person... when we upset the colts "perfect season" at home a couple years ago before thanksgiving. GREAT first game to go to. Kevin Burnett's fumble(or interception) return for TD made me think he was going to be a long-time clutch Cowboy waiting to break out.

Not only was I not a believer in Romo, I thought it would be a HORRIBLE idea to start him over Bledsoe... a "we're giving up on the season" type of move.

When did I become a believer? After his first start in Carolina... which is probably when 80% of his fans became believers.

I became curious after seeing him play well in several preseason appearances over his first few years, and he seemed to energize the entire team (despite the 3 INTs) in his first meaningful action vs. the Giants a week before the Carolina game in '06.

But I don't see how any fan, with extremely limited access to his progress over the years, could have "known" that he'd be as good as he is before 2006.

Nice post. You were probably one of the guys I was debating on that point. I too had little idea Romo would or could be anything before the 2006 preseason.

That Carolina game was certainly a special moment. For me it's perhaps my foundess Cowboy moment of the decade.
Remember Parcells giving Romo that pat on the shoulder. That was some serious emotional outpouring from Parcells.
