Yea I can tell. It's been over 2 years since he's played a season. What has he played 3 games in 2 years? Yep no reason to be concerned.
He's had a very long time to heal. And his last injury was due to getting hit during a slide that he got awkwardly twisted up on. Any player in the league can get injured on any play.

Considering Jerry Jones publicly came out and said Romo is not retired a few weeks ago only adds more fuel to the fire that he is really our backup QB.
I've been saying this all along. I believe this is why he didn't sign with the Texans. He has his post-football job and can play all of the golf he wants. He knew if he returned to the Cowboys he would be the backup, so basically this allows him to be the Cowboys backup if Dak is lost for the season without him having to give up what he has now and without having to go through the practices just to stand on the sidelines during games.

I also believe this is also why Jerry was willing to let Romo keep the $5 million of his contract's original bonus money by releasing him rather than forcing Romot to retire and repay it. That way, if the Cowboys need Romo later, they can pay him a much lower amount so they won't have to keep or create cap space. Basically, Romo is a $5 million insurance policy.

Of course that's all well and fine, but given Romo's age, the lack of an off-season and training camp workouts and practice, and the fact he's hardly played in the last 2 years, I'm not sure how great he would be should they end up bringing him back in that situation.

Week 17 as he is a free agent

Wow, I would have thought it was similar to the trade deadline to stop teams from bringing random's off the street for the playoff push.

Pats, Steelers, GB, Cowboys, Falcons.... you can guarantee if any of those QB's go down week 14, Romo is getting a phone-call.

Did Derek Carr get injured in the regular season last year? I think it was week 16 or 17. Had that happened during this situation, Romo plays Brady in the AFC championship game.

Why would Romo come back? I'm assuming if he quits CBS (or whatever network he's on) they won't let him back, and it'll be near impossible to get a broadcasting job anywhere.

Isn't that how things normally work?

Not necessarily----you would have to bring him in and teach him an entirely new offense. It's easier said than done when he's been in the same offense for essentially his entire career.

If Romo wanted to win a Super Bowl as a starter---two very good teams were interested. I believe he wanted to play for Dallas or no one instead of starting all over in a new city.

I would think the same thing.

Romo was debating between football and television heavily though...I believe he didn't say for definite he was done with football during his CBS opening press conference.

It could be in his contract.

Yep. Romo had choices and he is a very wealthy man. He doesn't need to play football.

The offseason sucks, man! I guess we're at that point where any "news" is news, ey Rob? :)

Yup, evidently if it's readable, it's fair game for news anytime the offseason comes around. Gotta have that football fix! ;)
I'll be somewhat relieved when they finally assign Tony's locker to someone so we won't have to see this "fluff" every day.
Tony was great to have around while he played but I'm glad to see him finding another job where he's still available to us.

He's using it to store his golf clubs. I just hope Dak doesn't get hurt this year of suffers a sophomore slump. If he does the dreaded QB zone nerve will start firing.
You're reading too much internet garbish. He'll be just fine, if not better. :D

Romo hasn't had a meaningful snap in close to two years yet he still dominates this board. I just want to enjoy this year.

When we go to Super Bowl, I hope a roster spot is made for Tony as backup. Would be cool to get him some reps to in 4th qt when the lead is so high. Let him throw one last td to witten.
