Just wondering what you guys think are the greatest rock songs ever, IMO:

1: "Dream On" - Aerosmith
2: "Freebird" - Lynard Skynard
3: "Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zepplin
4: "American Pie" - Don McClane
5: "Life in the Fast Lane" - The Eagles
6: "All Along the Watchtower" - Jimi Hendrix
7: "Like a Rolling Stone" - Bob Dylan
8: "Hotel California" - The Eagles
9: "Johnny B. Goode" - Chuck Berry
10: "Highway to Hell" - AC/DC

While there's nothing wrong with your list over all...No way Dream On beats out Stairway to Heaven!

"All Along the Watchtower" and "Stairway to Heaven" are the only ones of those 10 that I would even consider in MY top 10.

Aerosmith-AC/DC-Lynard Skynard = TRASH!!

But that's just my opinion. And since I respect your opinion as well, I'll just say...Good List.

I know it is all a matter of taste.

However when an all time top ten list of rock songs is made and at least one Beatles song does not appear on it....well something is just wrong.

1.Stairway to heaven
2.Voodoo Child
3.Another Brick in the wall
4.Smells like teen spirit
5.Purple Haze
6.Over the hills and far away
7.Highway to hell
8.Welcome to the jungle
9.Paranoid
10.Get off of my cloud (very very biased on this one, didn't feel like putting another Zeppelin or hendrix song...)

You are probably right, but me not being a beatles fan,(don't know a single song) I wouldn't know where to start...

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme 3 Steps....one of my all time favs

And no they are not trash....jmo :D

For me it's the other way around. If there IS a Beatles song on there something is wrong.

Only if it's the SRV version for me

I like SRV...but to be honest I really...REALLY dislike his version of the song.

Not because he plays bad by any stretch.

But his version is too thin and his voice and attitude in the song just does not match Jimmys version IMO.

Give me Jimmys any time.

Actually it may be one of the few songs that SRV has done that I really dislike.

I love Jimi but I just prefer SRV as has been well documented here :D

That's the break I was looking for...You could hear me screaming a mile away as I was headed out towards the door.:D

No way Lynard Skynyrd is trash.

Love Queen...Jazz is my Favorite Album.

Though not the same legendary status of Jimi, The Beatles, etc., I am a HUGE Creedence Clearwater Revival fan. Fogerty is the man.

I was cutting the rug
At a place called the jug
With a girl named Linda Lou
When in walked a man
With a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you know who

:D

Lynrd Skynrd. :bang2:

Freebird is played way too much and has become an anthem of something less then stellar.

Now I like the guitars lines in Sweet Home alabama and I think the pinched harmonics are pretty darn good in Saturday night special.

Give me allman brothers any day over LS.
