Top 3 seeds out of reach

Looks like the 49ers, Packers and Saints will battle it out for the top 3 seeds.

Best case scenario is the Cowboys at #4 and getting a team like the Rams or Vikings at home. Maybe they win. Maybe they don't.

If they win, they get slammed on the road the following week.

In other words, another typical Jason Garrett year. And that's the best case. We may not make the playoffs at all if the Eagles start rebounding.

Maybe that's for the best. Garrett would have to be gone if they miss the playoffs, wouldn't he?

Like last year, we could still go on a hot streak. The schedule doesn't seem to favor that, but we have as much talent as anyone else. Can Garrett and company keep the team focused and playing smart? That's what we'll find out in the coming weeks.

Can SF maintain their current level of play? Can GB who seems to be playing with lady luck on their side so far?

There's a lot of questions yet to be answered.

ridiculous assumptions, games are played because lots of unpredictable things happen within the flow of games regardless of competition..all the Guessers , predicters, the adding w/Ls by games we havent payed and say we have no chance is utterly ridiculous , we all know in sports those narratives can be crushed game to game..

you discuss week to week games and leave the past future ones alone until its game day.. stupid to say we cant beat a lot of these teams coming down the stretch.. I rather have more of those because the team is forced to game plan with more creativity, to prepare with more focus, as they know they are playing great teams and will have to bring their A game vs some hey show up we can win man on man like the jets game..

that Jets game woke the teams focus up and have forced them to dig out of hole and from what ive seen we play better when we know we have to..

lets get some positivity in here and stop worrying that other teams look like or are doing, it can change week to week..

Not necessarily, all that hot seat talk has come from everyone except the Joneses. They've denied he's on the hot seat every time it's come up and there is no minimum he must accomplish to be extended and I believe that's already a done deal. I don't think Booger has any intention of not keeping his "blankie".

If you take the picture now, I agree that the Cowboys do not stack up with those 3 and we'll find out about MIN and LAR but the season is only at the halfway mark and there are a lot of things that can happen over Nov and Dec. The East is not close to settled yet.

You are making a lot of assumptions with only half the season gone. The truth is the Cowboys control their own destiny.

Seriously, why even watch if this is truly your outlook?

It can’t be enjoyable.

Or are you just being dramatic on an Internet message board?

Throwing in the towel in October? Come on man. Things change very quickly in the NFL. 3 games behind with 9 to play does not pose insurmountable odds.

Garrett could be gone even if we make the playoffs. Thing is, Garrett's teams have done well on second half of the previous seasons.

The remaining schedule doesn’t look so tough anymore aside from the Patriots. The 2nd hardest game will be either Minn or LA and both are very beatable.

SF and NO do appear to have the top two seeds locked but still half a season to go......more injuries will hit them.

Last year we were left for dead. Then lightning hit and we were alive. This year we are alive, just hope lightning doesn't have the opposite effect this time.
Give us more life all the way to the SB win. :flagwave:

Right now, the Cowboys owns the top tiebreakers in the NFC East:

  • Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs)
  • Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
They should do everything possible to maintain those advantages through Week 17. If the team slips and share both of those tiebreakers with the Eagles, the third tiebreaker comes into play:

Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.

If the Eagles maintain that advantage, they will win the division crown. Presently, the Cowboys have a 0-2 common game record verses the Eagles 2-0 common game record.
