I already conceded Ratliff.

No way in hell Newman deserves to be on that list given last year.

One year when he was injured? The guy has been an all-pro since he's been in the NFL..Name two corners thats not in top top 5 that you would take over him.

Where's Albert Haynesworth on this list?

I was waiting for someone to notice that:)

I put 3-4 NT's before DT's and a mjority on my list are NT's..I'd rather have Darrell Dockett than Albert..I simply don't like his "non-contract years"

What can I say, I'm pretty observant :p

Albert would/could dominate being a 3-4 NT or a 3-4 DT. He's going to be a force next year.

He takes too many plays off..take a look at his non contract years..not nearly as dominent..no thanks.

When Newman was healthy he was a shutdown corner. At Washington he shut down Moss for like 2 catches. The game against the Giants he shut down Hixon. Madden even commented on that and in both games he had picks. The Eagles game he had great coverage on Jackson but Mcnabb made some sick throws. Does anyone remember the 3rd down play where he hit Jackson down the seam with Newman all over him. I was so frutrated. That being said, due to injuries Newman cant be in the top 5 this season. When healthy hes a top 7-8 corner in this league. Besides Asingwah the top 10 cb can be interchangable. Mine are in no order,

Asingwah
Woodsen
Harris
Newman
Samuel
Finnegan
Bailey (when healthy)
Cromartie (noticed how well he played under Rivera)

Hers some sleepers
Cromartie from Ari
Chris Houston from Atl
Walt Harris SF

Yes he is. Are you thinkin what I'm thinkin!?

NE will never let him go. Don't even imagine. How you don't have Haynesworth, Kris Jenkins or Shaun Rogers up there beats me. At LB Shawn Merriman is not mentioned either? Jon Beason over AJ Hawk? Anyways.

LOL, he's still a monster. The guy played a few games with a career threatening injury. He wasn't even supposed to play the nut case. Ware and Merriman are the best pass rushing LB's in the game. No way Jon Beason gets mentioned before Merriman. No way.

Just wondering on what you guys think of the top 5 defensive players at each position..

I'm going to give mine..you don't have to do every position, just give me some positions..
Here's mine:
DE
1.Mario Williams
2.Dwight Freeney
3.Osi
4.Jarred Allen
5.Julius Peppers
DT
1.Vince Wilfork
2.Casey Hampton
3.Jay Ratiff
4.Haloti Ngata
5.Darrel Dockett
LB(outside and inside)
1.Patrick Willis
2.Demarcus Ware
3.James Harrison
4.Jon Beason
5.Brian Urlacher
CB
1.Nnamdi Asomugha
2.Darrell Revis
3.Terence Newman
4.Asante Samuel
5.Courtland Finnegan
FS
1.Ed Reed
2.Laron Landry
3.Antione Bethea
4.Brian Dawkins
5. Louis Delmas(lol)
SS
1.Troy Polamalu
2.Bob Sanders
3.Kerry Rhodes
4.Chris Hope
5.Sean Jones

Feel free to add you own.
No Hayneworth, WOW. Ware is better than Willis, Willis had a great rookie year but offenses attacked him this year and exposed him a little....
Laron Landry is not the 2nd best FS in the NFL...Samuels is better than NEwman and always come up big in the big games.....Porter should be up there instead of Urlacher.

But all and all OK list.

Those NT's you mentioned arn't better than the ones I mentioned and if anything it's a wash..I had to cut the list down to something.

Jon Beason is extremly underrated. I've watched him play many many times and he is ridiculous against the run and solid in coverage. He warrants being mentioned. AJ Hawk is just solid..nothing special.

Merriman is just a one-demensional player..He's terrible against the run and to me he can only rush the passer. That deserves to not be mentioned. Harrison and Ware are complete linebackers..plus Merriman got punk'd by Mojo..that alone took him off my list..Ware or Harrison would never allow that.
