OK guys, Shawn Merriman isn't a beast because of 1 play and Jon Beason is better than him and AJ Hawk. AJ Hawk is just a solid player, lol! Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Oh yeah, and Haynesworth (who may be the best DT in the game), Kris Jenkins and Shaun Rogers aren't DT's that should be considered top 5 DT's.

WOW..typo city! why do I keep putting Darrell..lol I know it's Darnell!

That's OK, I can't tell you how many times I have referred to Jackie Smith as Jackie Harris when talking about the dropped pass in the SB vs the Stealers (that's NOT a typo BTW). DOH!

Hey, they were both TEs and they did both play for the Cowboys...

It's kind of funny how everyone thinks we have all these elite players, yet our D wasn't even close to great.

Ware, Newman, Ratliff are all-pros, James should have been a pro bowler, and we let a blossoming star get away in Canty, etc etc etc.

The reality is, if all these players were as good as most of the board thinks they are, our D would have been among the best. It wasn't and isn't.

They finished in the top 10 again in yards allowed and #1 in sacks...thats pretty good

They were definitely a dominant defense the 2nd half of the season once Wade took over. They had two bad plays vs Baltimore and the entire team mailed it in vs Philly, but that doesnt discount how well they played after WP took over the defense. The only thing lacking was the turnovers, and I suspect those will come this yr with healthier CB's better safeties.

I think it's a very subjective list, that pretty much everyone will have different players on their list. Personally, I think D-Ware is the best defensive player in the league because he's not just a pass rusher. The guy is very effective against the run and can even drop into coverage if needed.

The biggest problem that I have with the list is you put ILB and OLB into the same category. Then had FS and SS on their own. Probably so you could put your boy Delmas on the list. I think it would be easier to compare FS & SS then OLB & ILB IMO. Or you could have done an ILB list and an OLB list.

But overall pretty good list to heat up discussion with no major Boys news going on.

I'm biased as hell about Newman..I still think he's one of the best corners in the league..if you look at his YPA and Thrown at the last 5 years, it's tops in the league.

Brian Dawkins is still helluva safety..the guy stil flys around and makes plays..

LOL Louis Delmas baby! he'll be a top 5 safety his rookie year ;)..Who would you replace Sean Jones with?

If we draft this guy, I hope he's great, but I wouldn't draft him if he is anything like Bob Sanders.

Bob Sanders is an overrated, injury prone, joke.

I don't see what is so funny. Other than the fact that you think Bob Sanders is a great safety.

I guess by Delmas being the next Bob Sanders, you mean he'll:

Play in only 45 of the 80 games his team has played in his first 5 seasons and accumulate a whopping 287 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 5 ints.

You'd be better off calling Delmas the next Roy Williams.

i would take out Urlacher and replace him with Demico Ryans from the Texans and Move Ware to #1 on that list.

I've seen that defense play without him half the time(he's has played 45 of 80 games in his career)......they get by without him.

Thanks to Peyton...

They were getting rolled without Bob in their SB year..He comes in the playoffs and he transforms them from a soft swiss cheese run defense into a top notch run stuffing team...I'll tak Bob Sanders all day..your trippin

Bob Sanders plays like a LB and has the speed of a corner

Delmas, neither, just Ken Hamlin-lite

Brandon Jacob's fodder

I've seen them when he's on the field, and he never makes a play.

He is undoubtedly the most overrated player in football right now.
