If Miles Austin is going to get love as a top 5 wr...then DeSean Jackson should too.

I think Miles is a little more complete, but Jackson is a big play machine.

1. Andre Johnson
2. Larry Fitz
3. Randy Moss
4. Brandon Marshall
5. Vincent Jackson
6. Ochocinco
7. Steve Smith
8. Colston
9. Austin
10. Jackson

There isn't a GM in the league who would take Miles Austin over Calvin Johnson. Miles is awesome, however, sometimes you have to look beyond stats.

I'm actually kind of embarrassed for you.

Have you been watching the Patriots this year? Randy Moss doesn't belong in this conversation any more than Terrel Owens does.

No one mentions Ward because no one likes the ****ing Stealers. Hines gets away with bloody murder out there, and no one calls it. He's good though, to be sure. So is Steve Smith (Panthers), but he's a POS too, and has no QB to speak of...no offense Matt Moore.

Marshall belongs in that category too, but his production and talent are undeniable, and IMPROVING. Scary.

Ward, Smith, Moss...are all becoming relics. They'll still have their great games, but they aren't elite anymore IMO.

If Steve Smith had anything resembling a credible receiving threat opposite him and even a top 15 or so QB, he'd still be considered "elite".The talent and ability is still there. He just cant do it alone.

You may be right, but as much as I appreciate Matt Moore's performance yesterday, I don't see him becoming that guy. Smith is destined to fade away in a mediocre offense without a leader. If they had a QB, look out....

Not sure he makes my top 5. He's close though...

1. Brandon Marshall
2. Andre Johnson
3. Larry Fitzgerald
4. Vincent Jackson
5. Wes Welker
6. Reggie Wayne
7. Miles Austin

If Miles keeps up this pace next year, he moves into the top 5.

I can see Marshall, Johnson, Jackson, and Miles being the elite WR's in this league for years to come.

I'd agree with this list, except I'd probably have R. Wayne ahead of both Welker and Jackson. Brandon Marshall to me is the best in the league. I'm not one of the "Go sign this free-agent, and go sign that free-agent" guys, nor am I one of the "Cut Roy Williams crowd", but if ever I was going to throw the world at a guy, it would be free-agent WR Brandon Marshall! He and Austin could be your two Pro Bowl receivers for the next five years.

Calvin Johnson - yes I know he hasn't done a lot but who would in Detroit. He and Stafford will be a great combo in the years to come.

I forgot all about him...but that will tend to happen when your team has won two games in the last two years.

Very true and I considered putting him in the top 5 but I couldn't do it over the others. He is elite and if he had Manning throwing to him instead of Wayne he could be all world.

Miles has performed like a Top 5 receiver THIS YEAR, especially considering he didn't start the first several games. However, part of one year does not make him a Top 5 receiver overall. Maybe in a couple more years if he continues his current pace.

Cool it amigos, Austin is good, no question, the second best walk on wide out in franchise history and the second best walk on wideout in the NFL today.

But top five at his position? No.

He is better than TO or Roy Williams however, that much is very true and evident.

But Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald are monsters without peer at this time.

1. Johnson
2. Fitzgerald
3. Moss
4. D. Jackson
5. V. Jackson
6. Welker
7. Boldin
8. R. White
9. Austin
10.Steve Smith (Car)

1. Wes Welker -- catches a zillion passes and they all go for yards after catch it seems. makes Pats offense go.
2. Andre Johnson -- best all-around WR.
3. Brandon Marshall -- most talented guy and still improving
4. Randy Moss -- declining player but still unstoppable around the end zone.
5. Vincent Jackson -- Chargers spread ball around but this guy is a beast. Everything he catches is a first down.

I think Miles is a top 10 guy right now and that is a heck of an achievement for a guy only starting since week 6. He is a Brandon Marshall starter kit with Jerry Rice work ethic and Mike Irvin personality. I think this time next year he earns that top 5 spot easily. He is the most improved player I have ever seen over the course of one year. His route-running has come along remarkably.

Fitz didn't have that great a year. He didn't have a single pass over 40 yards, Austin had 7. His longest play was actually 34 yards which makes him a possession receiver this year.

But I'd agree Austin isn't top just yet.

I would rate Austin higher than Fitz THIS YEAR however. He had about 200 yards more receiving, averaged 10 more yards per game and had a huge advantage in big plays made.

Why? because we have the best WR we should act humble?

Actually, I understand where you're coming from. It's great to love the players on your favorite team...and to defend and prop them to being the bestest in the whole wide world.

I used to do that kind of stuff too...and then I turned 13.

To say Miles Austin is a top 5 wr in the league, that comment would give our fan base a homer sterotype.

Mile Austin is good but lets keep it real here he has some improving to do. He drops way too many balls and doesn't make all the tough catches. What I mean by tough catch is the ones that are high or outside with too many going off his fingertips. To be top 5 you need to make those. I know Im being hard but top 5 is top 5. In addition, can he play injury free for multiple seasons?

Top 5 right now is

1. Andre Johnson
2. Larry Fitzgerald
3. Randy Moss
4. Desean Jackson
5. Brandon Marshall

Calvin Johnson= Freak athlete, he needs to put together healthy seasons
Boldin= Very solid reciever but not top 5
VJackson= One more season and he makes it
Welker= Brady + Moss = Welkers success
etc
etc

Ohh yeah, how can you forget about Mr.consistency Reggie Wayne. Hes top 5. So many good recievers.
