I have mellowed over the years. My mind has been racing with ideas about Elvis as Batman. There is one in particular I thought about with Neo and The Matrix but nah!

Here are all movie villain comments posted thus far. I will try summarizing them in another post soon.

All kinds of movie villains Darth,Jason, Hannibal, Scream, Leatherface, Predator,,etc.

best all-time movie villain....gotta be darth vader or the joker....or the aliens in war of the worlds(original).

another great villain...ming from flash gordon(80s).

best western villain...wilson in shane...played by jack palance.

Are you forgetting Alan Rickman in Robin Hood and Die Hard? And how about Ralph Fiennes in Harry Potter? Jack Lemmon in The Great Race?

No vote for Vader, more of a voice and no acting. David Prowse played him but did little, if any, acting.

Portraying a bad man is an art and some do it with panache because for a lot of actors, that is their favorite role. And there are several ways to play it, bad because of circumstances or necessity and bad from desire to be so. Hell, how many Bond villains do we have to pick from?

vader stold both movies(star wars/empire strikes back) and didnt have to say a word...cant have a list of movie villains and not include vader.

If we go the movie villain route, does that include monsters and creatures or just people(a character)? Way too many options to include everything IMO.

My vote would be humanoids only. People or things that think and communicate like humans, with malice. I think the farthest I'd stretch under those criteria would be Ultron.

ALL heroes in my book.
it was the PEOPLE in those flicks who were the villains.

I don't think the Alien, Bruce the Shark, or a couple others even match their definition. They aren't evil, power hungry, or selfish. The Aliens are trying to breed, and the shark is a shark, albeit a bit more determined than most.

joker....villain...antagonist...loves to bring mayhem into peoples lives...the exact opposite of a clown....and laughs at the pain inflicted.

gort....alien robot....really isnt the villain....he is just an extra-terrestrial robot....A.I.

so....regardless of movie.....ask yourself.

is my potential villain more like the joker.....or gort.
