One of the best death scenes anyone will see in a film. Brian De Palma had a unique style of directing. I have always liked a lot of his work.
one of my favorite scenes is when andy garcia slides across the floor in front of the stairs to catch the runaway baby carriage...and still has his gun drawn...aimed at that gangster.
such a cool scene.

My all-time favorite scene will always be Ness throwing that trash off the top of the courthouse roof. Wish he had aimed for the street though.

for my money the only true rival to the gunfight scene in the good, the bad and the ugly is shane vs wilson in the saloon....the build up was awesome....shane's slow but deliberate ride...the music...then...FINALLY...shane vs wilson.

I could take Mitchum or DeNiro as Max Cady in Cape Fear, forgot about them.

Also Lee Marvin in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

lol. I am curious. Does your opinion also include Heath Ledger's portrayal of DC Comics/Warner Bros/The Dark Knight The Joker, a role which he was nominated or won dozens of critically acclaimed Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor awards posthumously?

I wasn't referring to a real live role but CGI and animated ones. But, as it was pointed out to me this is about best villain, not portrayals by actors. Although, I chose to only nominate actors portraying villains.

I left out Ledger's Joker because I overlooked him as I did both of the actors playing Max Cady.

Along those same lines was the fight between John Wayne and Montgomery Clift in "Red River" and John Wayne's character's move to the dark for part of that film also deserves a nod. I think he would have made a grand bad guy if they'd been able to cast him but people got upset enough at his demise in "The Cowboys", The Duke as a heavy would have sent them reeling.
