This is all speculation who to say Det would take a 5th? Heck they may out and out cut him next off-season. If Dallas is to address WR then do it in the draft and get someone without the baggage. This team has dealt with that enough. Seeing guys like Lett failing test after test and the team suffering because of it. After all once the season starts and that guy gets suspended you’re screwed because it is too late to find a quality replacement once the season is underway. If I was going to take a chance I would take a chance using my 1st or 2nd rd pick to get a top college prospect

Maybe we should all just give a call to the Vikings and see if Koren Robinson is working out for them. I think he's like 5th or 6th on there WR depth chart (minus Moss). Might be interesting to see what they think of making this type of move.

this is a possibility. The vikes have burleson and williamson. They might end upp waiving him. Not sure BP would go for it, but the guy is talented. I leave these kind of issues to bp, if he thinks rogers or koren is ok, then we can give them a shot. i'd rather take a small risk like this, and know that it failed then always think what if.

again, we used our 5th this year to move up and get Canty -- that's why you don't throw picks away for drug addicts.

as for Matt Lehr -- the dude has kept himself in the league for several years now -- that's an above average outcome for a 5th rounder

Rogers career stats:

27 catches, 320 yards, 3 TDs

A certain 7th rd pick:

24 catches, 358 yards, 3 TDs

So it appears that Dallas not only could, but did, get that kind of production...thus talent...from WORSE THAN A 5TH RD PICK.

Time to stop, unless you enjoy being embarrassed.

Stop embarassing yourself. If you knew anything about statistics and probability, then maybe you'd understand how to make a correct argument. Simply, your chances of finding anyone with Rogers' ability and talent in the 5th round are somewhere between 2 and 6 percent. Don't pick a needle out of a haystack and claim it is the norm. You're only proving your lack of intelligence.

The facts are Crayton, A 7TH ROUND PICK, has performed at the same level as Rogers.

Potential does not make the pro bowl or hall of fame, REALIZED potential does.

So far Rogers has either been hurt or smoking weed. All he has shown is he is an injury prone idiot.

You want to throw out statistical probability?

You want to talk about needles and haystacks?

How many two-time season ending injured, 4 game suspended, players have turned it around and went on to have great careers?

You were right about one thing, I have shown a lack of intelligence. Since I've been wasting my time trying to discuss this logically with a troll.:jerk:

"Move up" is the operative phrase there. Canty was not going to last until the 5th round. Every time I ever mention the possibilities or lack thereof in a given round, somebody invariably brings up Shannon Sharpe or Leon Lett. Yes, it's true, on ocassion you can find a gem in the later rounds. It is rare. I think history shows a far greater chance that someone like Rogers is rejuvenated by a change of scenary to the point of being a steal.

Again it's about risk/reward. Both our current starting WRs were fired by former teams and very few, if anybody, was interested. I would bet that if Rogers is released, about 10 teams are fighting to sign him. He is far from the point of no return.

as for Matt Lehr -- the dude has kept himself in the league for several years now -- that's an above average outcome for a 5th rounder

Well, bully for Matt. The world needs backup offensive linemen too.

Matt Lehr: Career starts = 26. Drug suspensions = none. Drafted #137 overall. Contracts - minimum with tiny signing bonus.

Charles Rogers: Starts = 9. Drug suspensions = one. Drafted #2 overall. $14 million SB.

Who's the better value at this point?

No, the facts are that makes one out of every 20 late round draft picks to do anything worthwhile in the league. You need a class in statistics. Then maybe you'd stop making a fool of yourself.

Potential does not make the pro bowl or hall of fame, REALIZED potential does.

No kidding? And what comes before "REALIZED potential?" C'mon, you know the answer...

So far Rogers has either been hurt or smoking weed. All he has shown is he is an injury prone idiot.

oh well that clinches it then. He'll never amount to anything.

You want to throw out statistical probability?

yeah I do

You want to talk about needles and haystacks?

With somebody intelligent enough to, yeah.

How many two-time season ending injured, 4 game suspended, players have turned it around and went on to have great careers?

Well, there's never been a converted QB from Northwestern Oklahoma to have any career in the NFL either, let alone a "great" one. I guess you don't much like your boy Crayton anymore either.

Don't be a *******. Chris Carter went down the very same road as Rogers is on. I think he turned it around nicely once he was given a second chance.

You were right about one thing, I have shown a lack of intelligence. Since I've been wasting my time trying to discuss this logically with a troll.

Son, you'd need about three brain transplants to reach special education level.

Going forward, Rogers. The signing bonus has no impact since Dallas wouldn't be responsible for any of it.

Lehr is a backup OL. Rogers could be a superstar WR.

Do you even know what "upside" means?

No, but that's completely different. Parcells probably didn't know about LT's drug problems when he drafted him. Plus, LT never complained and always worked his arse off. Rogers, on the other hand, was already complaining in the preseason about Roy and Mike Williams being in town, and rather than working to try to beat them out, he just complained. He's now a known substance abuser and he's also lazy and a complainer. When Parcells drafted LT, he was a very talented hard worker, and his drug problems were not well known.

You are making a lot of assumptions here that you know have no basis in fact.

The only assumption I made was that LT was not a known drug abuser when he was drafted. If I was feeling ambitious, I could probably find out via google. Actually, I also assumed Charles Rogers substance abuse was weed. That's an assumption that's giving him the benefit of the doubt, though. If it was something harder, it only hurts your argument.

Other than that, everything I said was a fact. Charles Rogers was openly discouraged about being pushed down on the depth chart, and complained to the media rather than just beating RW and BMW out.

You are assuming Rogers IS an incredible natural talent. I'd argue the most people believe he WAS.

yeah, he's 24 years old. So over the hill. C'mon.

Just to clarify, I didn't mean he was old. I meant he WAS a talent in College. A good prospect. What he IS, is a guy who got hurt early on and obviously got involved with drugs somewhere along the way. As of yet has not lived up to his potential. That is the problem. I can see why you might take a flyer on the guy however I don't think he's worth any more than a free look as a FA. I would not trade a thing for him.

Also, while we might have some castoffs on our team they at least put up real NFL numbers first. Like I said earlier, I understand your interest in Rogers, I just don't share your risk evaluation or justifications. That's what makes it intersting though.

Cris Carter was injured and only played 9 games out of his first 35 in the NFL? Was he traded for a proven player and a pick? Were his stats in his Philly years equalled by a 7th round QB/RB/WR from a small school?

If I need 3 brain transplants to reach SE, yet I'm kicking your butt all over the place, what does that say about you?:D

well it says that he needs 6 brain transplanets to reach common sense, because he obisviouly doesnt have it if he thinks this guy has done anything to warrent trading him. If he was smart he would ask

" When the lions cut rogers, should we pick him up?" THat wouold have gotten much better answers, then trading a draft pick, and a guy for unproven, injury prone, drug addict.

lol oops, i have no idea why i said that, but shaun rogers is a freakin beast. Wouldnt mind taking a flyer on charles tho after the season for a late pick or fa. I tend to be on the riskier side. I think it would be a risky trade, but if we give up a late round pick, there isnt that big of a downside. only time will tell.

Remember how we passed up on Shaun Rogers twice in the 2nd round in 2002 -- so we could take Q and Tony Dixon. That was great!

I swear after the Dixon pick I thought my head was going to explode.
