Unless I could absolutely rob someone I wouldn’t trade either
If this team wasn’t competitive I would think differently but we are competitive and we will have more injuries and reasons players aren’t availible
Collins coming off a suspension is probably not gonna bring any real value and unless the team knows something that is much worse than we do he will be the RT for years
Gallup is a very good player that we won’t be able to afford after the season but he is worth a lot to a team with a chance at the playoffs
If someone offered something crazy I’d listen but I’m not taking a 3rd which is probably his value considering his contract situation
I wouldn’t even take a second unless it was gonna be a very high second

Sell high, buy low. Collins’ price is maybe the highest it will be right now. There are teams desperate for starting OT talent right now.

The team is at a crossroad with the starting OT position. Steele’s arrow is pointing up, Collins down. Who starts? Do you reward Collins for his abhorrent behavior these past two years and gift him the starting position? Or do you reward Steele for his hard work and improvement? Do you stop the progress of Steele for a lying drug addict who quit on the team last year and who last played well in 2019?

What is the message you want to send to your team? What is the culture of the team? These questions are much more important to the team than depth right now. We are talking about the heart and soul of a team.

Steele or Collins? Which one starts. This question must be answered soon and not swept under the carpet with some BS explanation.

Reward Steele or allow Collins to continue his BS shenanigans? The team is watching.

Collins quit on the team, he quit on his teammates, he quit on his friends, he quit on the fans. He put drugs above football. You want to reward that? You want to keep that? You want more of that from Collins? You want similar behavior from other stars down the line?

When is enough enough?

Gallup is a different story. He is a good player who does all the right things and just got injured. He is the type of player you want to keep. So is Wilson. Might not be able to keep both after this year. Tough decision.

Stealers got rid of Antonio Brown. Similar situation with Collins.

I am okay with trading excessive depth during the season, but not at a position we just suffered a severe problem at within the last season of games.

If Steele or Collins gets hurt, then you are one tackle away from one of the team's strengths turning into a weakness again.

It would be like saying, "we don't need two running backs when one will work" so we trade Elliott or Pollard away during the season (after the season is another story) only to wish we had them back the moment we lose the one we kept.

When things are working well, I don't think that's the time to start screwing with your depth unless you have excessive depth and a desperate need.

Why are fans so eager to trade depth?

Steele and Wilson are playing because Gallup and Collins got hurt. So we trade Gallup and Collins, then Steele and Wilson get hurt. Then what?

It wouldn't surprise ME at all if the Cowboys don't trade either of them. What you're going to get midseason is less than their worth to the 2021 team.

Did Jimmy Johnson trade away Jimmy Jones, Chad Hennings, Ron Stone, etc. or did Parcells trade Jason Hatcher, Andre Gurode, Doug Free and Marc Colombo?

Did you see Amari Cooper limping through every game and you want to trade a 1000 yd WR? When you say you are on a Super Bowl run, that makes no sense. As any injury to another T or G would put LC, a former starter at either position, the same for LC. He is an upgrade replacing either Connor Williams or Terrence Steele.

You trade your excess depth at a position when you have a team that is average or below average to get premium picks or a better starter to become above average.

However, as I said when have you seen Schramm/Gil Brandt/Landry, Johnson/Wooten/Ackles, or Parcells/Ireland trade excess quality depth? Those guys traded useless stars (see Herschel Walker, Craig Morton), or back ups with draft picks to get mega stars (see Tony Dorsett). Cowboys did not trade Butch Johnson when they had Drew Pearson and Tony Hill in 1977 or 1978 Super Bowl runs.

When you use Trade Bait, you better make sure you are not the one to get hooked/trapped.

Team has been playing much more 12 personal to help Steele using the TE to chip and he whifs on an inordinate number of second level blocks… Wilson is averaging a whopping 2 receptions a game. You reinsert your starters so as not to have to make accommodations for lesser players duh!

Like I said, there are more important things than depth right now with Collins. Which one starts? Collins would be very expensive depth. Get what you can for him now.

I assume you are leaving Collins as the backup going forward, right? Or are you starting Collins and benching Steele? Got to make the call next week. Trade deadline coming up in 2 or 3 weeks.

The Cowboys have Nsehke, Knight, Farniok, and Ball. Not like the cupboard is bare.
 
I believe you always need depth...and that you only truly appreciate it when you actually have to use it...with that said, if someone wants to make an offer we can't refuse, you have to listen and considered.

But he also kept his key depth.

And his trades were before season started, for the most part.

And during the SB years, there were more FA signings than player trades.

That's your argument?? 12 personal huh, well that 12 personal seems to be in the defensive secondary a lot, I don't know about you but I see Schultz and Jarwin down the field involved in the pass pattern maybe I've been watching the wrong game, 12 personal my ***!

If you can get value for those guys then I would definitely consider it that's all I'm saying.
