Trade Bait

The only teams that would potentially give us something for him are contenders. Bad teams will just simply wait until next year when he is a FA and throw a ton of money at him.
There is no way that I bolster the offense of a team like Arizona, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, the Rams, or Buffalo just for some future draft pick which will likely be late in the round.

The Cowboys, at least in my view, is most definitely in the "win now" mode. Too many free agents next year, too many players at or near the end of their career and most of all they are a contender for a ring. How often could we really say that in years past? We had the 2016 team, but as good as it was, the simple fact than no rookie quarterback EVER won a SB brought the expectation down to something less than a SB win.

The future is unknown, yes that's the case always, and there will be an NFL and Cowboys in the future so you can't just dig in your heels this year and say to heck with 2022, 2023, and on and on.

But keep everybody you can (and want to) keep this year, again at least for me the old saying "Strike while the iron is hot" is spot on for this year...

"Win now" rarely works. Anything can happen in the playoffs.

I did an analysis years ago that determined the best regular season team base on wins and statistical data like points, yards and turnovers both offensively and defensively. The best team coming out of the playoffs win about 50% of the time.

If they have that "win now" mentality then why would they ever want to trade good players? Are the Cowboys suddenly exempt from injury?

A great deal of the success for Wilson and the others are based on the presence of Cooper who draws the better defenders. Without Cooper, I doubt the others get open as frequently. It's not a "plug and play" situation.
 
My question is could the Cowboys go back in on Quinnen Williams DT Jets?
They are clearly in the rebuild.
Could Triston Hill, Anthony Brown or La'el Collins and some picks sway them.
Not saying all of Them a package of something along those lines

What is it, maybe one or two trades a year that involves a first round pick? It’s maybe one or two league wide. It is not common and Cooper is one of the very few players that has played up to that trade value. I have seen many more trades that resulted in a low pick that could improve if the player met certain criteria such as games started, production goals, health, etc.

Collins quit on the team, he quit on his teammates, he quit on his friends, he quit on the fans. He put drugs above football. You want to reward that? You want to keep that? You want more of that from Collins? You want similar behavior from other stars down the line?

When is enough enough?

Gallup is a different story. He is a good player who does all the right things and just got injured. He is the type of player you want to keep. So is Wilson. Might not be able to keep both after this year. Tough decision.

Stealers got rid of Antonio Brown. Similar situation with Collins.

I disagree. Collin’s trade value is at the lowest it has been since Dallas signed him. Between coming into camp out of shape, his injuries and his bribes, the guy has killed his trade value.

Nsekhe is only needed to hold the fort down in the immediate future. He will be gone next year or maybe even sooner.

Farniok played well in preseason games and has been getting reps on special teams. He is showing potential this year like Steele showed potential last year.

Knight seems to have maxed out. Looks to be a 3rd stringer - good in a pinch for maybe a few games. Will probably get beat out by others next year.

Ball is a big question mark right now since none of us saw him play. The team has been good at identifying OL talent so I will trust in the scouts and coaches.

am not looking for a trade I only point out yes I would trade if someone offered a #1 pick, if not then I don't trade. I'm not looking to get rid of anyone but if I were it would be on my terms. I love having Gallup and look forward to his return but as I said everyone has a price

exactly. on point. and make them stronger and potentially have to face them in the playoffs...

how about the other side of the coin, teams that are looking successful in the regular season, then trade out or have their players injured and what happens to them? how many missed the playoffs? how many won even one playoff game? and I usually look at the last 5-8 games of the season. teams getting hot, producing and clicking in the last half of the season. you don't want to sputter into the playoffs. you want to go in with a strong head wind.

defintley and undeniably, having full force and depth going into playoffs is better than not having it.

preseason...he looked good in preseason!!!! playing against other scrubs!!!! . remember Rico Gathers, he looked fantastic in preseason. again, going up against scrubs...and Faronik plays guard. not tackle. and Nsekhe doesn't give anyone confidence, given he has bounced around and is a journey man. if he was any good, he would have stuck around.....and steele played real games last year, not preseason. out of necessity, not because he showed anything in preseason that would garner us throwing him out there....he made a lot of mistakes. cost a few games. we went 6-10.... but he learned....so if that's the plan, to throw these rookies and journey men out there and tank the season...then yeah, you got yourself a good plan.

$60 million is a lot for a WR over 3 seasons.
