Not that bad. And we save a lot of money.

I like the odds and cost better if we had been bringing in more QBs farther down in the draft since we moved on from Tony. Bring in running QBs and really run them to add that dimension to the offense. Teams spend big on QBs and then have management careers that have to justify that expense.

Churn the cheaper ones. We did more than ok doing that with Tony, Moore, and Dak. And we actually rarely tried to do it.
OK then keep the proven QB we have and run him.. He is a awesome running QB.. Go ahead and use him and make him play his rookie deal out.. When he gets hurt then we simply churn it and sell out our draft to get another running QB that is unproven but is a running QB..

Its a win now idea.. Running QBs don't last long, ask the deadskins..

Seriously, what team out there would actually trade 2 first round picks for Dak and pay him $30 million a year? Answer, none. In fact I doubt any team out there would trade a 2nd rounder for him straight up simply because no one out there wants to have to pay him.

We can't make him play out his deal. At this point I don't see him playing the full season without a new contract. Too much future income potentially lost, and the risk of that goes up if we're really running him.

A one year extension at franchise QB cost, with half of that coming this year, as long as the contract is written to prevent further holdouts. Dak gets a big chunk of guaranteed money. We get our QB on the field without long term commitment.

Guess only articles that Praise Dak are allowed to be posted on main page like the one below....others that might raise question marks about his talent base get sent here and called stupid by mods....oh well ........

"Dak isn't elite! Don't pay him! Someone might give us two first round picks for him!"

Ummm...if someone is willing to give you two first round picks that's a sign you should pay him, so this scenario makes no sense. :muttley:

What if its that wonderful judge of QB talent called John Elway?

The only way I'd trade Dak is if we could get at least two 1sts for him, and we can't.

I’d rather keep Dak as a backup as he was drafted for. We finally found someone off the bench we can win with.

I’d of brought in another draft pick already to challenge Dak . It didn’t have to be a 1st rounder.

We could have drafted Will Grier in 3rd round who went 100th pick to Panthers.

He was an early Heisman candidate last year with West Virginia .

We needed a stronger backup anyway. I followed him both seasons in Big 12 . One of best in conference.

Hmmmm another angle on Dak......

The dilemma here is what can we get for Dak to move up in the 2020 draft and select a new possible Franchise QB......

I'm sorry, but the moron who wrote that article should find a new career. He should not write about something he does not understand.
Some one should give me a job writing about makeup, I'm sure my article would be just as ignorant has this one.

Sooo... you want to treat the QB position like the RB position? Hmmm. Thats an interesting view point.

I beg to differ as this article is "Spot on" concerning what we really have in Dak.
Shame the mods buried it here as it brings up some very Valid points concerning the importance of Cap and the doom it can bring if you give a massive contract to a average to below average QB.

I will not pretend to think Dak is a top tier QB, you will have to pay him like one and it sucks..
But the narrative that we will be in a cap crisis after, or not have the ability to keep this strong core around him is false. We have drafted great, spent FA money wisely. We should have no reason to believe that any of this will change soon.
I want you to understand what I am saying. Dak can win a superbowl with this roster. Is he Elite? NO. Can he get the job done? Absolutely!

All that is starting to come due this season and next and we won't be able to keep everyone no matter what alot around here think. Dak will get to a point where he alone will have to carry the team, so the question becomes can Dak carry the team on his back? If your answer is no then he should not be signed for 30m+ a season. At best let him play out his rookie deal this year then tag him next season and go from there.

Oh he's not a moron, but he is a beat writer/blogger for the Patriots..

I just bet he wishes the Cowboys would trade Dak, like to maybe..................New England??????????

He's not some deep NFL thinker, he's a Patriots guy, his opinion doesn't hold much weight with me....

Hold on a minute:
1. No team can "keep everyone", so that makes Dallas no different than any other team.
2. And we don't know who the Cowboys can, or will sign, no way to know if the Cowboys will get to the point where Dak "has to carry the team". If they keep a good o-line and a couple of playmakers like Zeke and Amari, again, that's what most teams have - even the Patriots.
3. And who says a team can't be a SB winner without the quarterback "carrying the team on his back"? Did Dilfer or Johnson do that? No. Flacco won a SB with ONE great off season, obviously a freak season, and with a top notch defense. Wilson's SB win and loss came when the Seahawks had the number 1 defense, both years. He's supposedly elite, but he's not been to a SB without the no. 1 defense, so even he can't "carry the team on his back".

The cap goes up every year, much ado about giving Dak $30 million or even more, the top quarterback salary will be $38-40 mil in a couple of years, Dak doesn't have to win the SB this year, you're signing him for several years. Can't cry and wring our hands over what he gets this year, if he's signed to $30-plus million, the future is not known for sure, let's not turn into a bunch of Chicken Littles, it might happen as you say, but it's a matter of "might", not "will"...

Dak will not be the backup. Keep dreaming buddy.
