All that is starting to come due this season and next and we won't be able to keep everyone no matter what alot around here think. Dak will get to a point where he alone will have to carry the team, so the question becomes can Dak carry the team on his back? If your answer is no then he should not be signed for 30m+ a season. At best let him play out his rookie deal this year then tag him next season and go from there.

The front office has done an excellent job of clearing cap space for the future. We have a ton of dead money getting off the books. We will be able to keep the guys we want to keep. No one can carry the entire team on their back with no elite players around him, but Dak wont have to worry about that.

Have to appreciate the optimism from some here, chunk a Pro Bowl, two of three year career division winning quarterback, and DRAFT A FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK!

Not that easy folks, the history of the league is chock a block full of "franchise" quarterbacks that didn't do squat.

But hey, whatever floats your boat...

There are many fans of other teams who would love to have Dak as their starter.

Trading Dak would be ideal. Paying him a huge amount would be the dumbest decision. Letting him play out his contract would be right in the middle. But if you can get good return for him and not shackle yourself, it's a no brainer. And if he's a guy ANYONE is considering giving a huge payday too, then getting a good return from a trade should be easy.

Seriously, what team out there would actually trade 2 first round picks for Dak and pay him $30 million a year? Answer, none. In fact I doubt any team out there would trade a 2nd rounder for him straight up simply because no one out there wants to have to pay him.

Many GMs have a small window of time to get results.

A legit starting veteran QB does not become available very often.

There are GMs that would give a lot to get Dak.

If paying 30M+ causes cap problems, it will happen in a few years. By then the GM is either gone or has earned the benefit of doubt from the owner.

To win with Dak we need:
A killer defense
An elite running back
A punishing OLine
A good kicker:

(See Trent Dilfer and the Baltimore Ravens)

Oh and a competent coach

Where Iive there are fans of nearly every team - and they give us Cowboys fans a hard time about how we'll never win with Dak.

PPG in 2014....29.8
PPG in 2015....17.1
PPG in 2016....26.3
PPG in 2017....22.1
PPG in 2018....21.2

With an elite running back and an elite or at worst above average line our points per game have steadily declined since Dak took over as QB ( the only exception being 2015 when we basically played without a QB for the entire season) An Elite D first and foremost and a kicker who almost never misses is what is going to carry this team to the promised land because our offense is not capable anymore without an Elite QB

( I would also throw in Brad Johnson and the Tampa Bay Bucaneers to go along with Difer and the Ravens )

We have a much better chance to win with Dak then we ever did with Romo !
