We know about as much about Howard having a record contract year as we do about Jarwin owning a majority of the snaps. For all we know, they're both JAGs and Dallas gets the short end of the stick.

All I'm getting at is Howard could potentially be worth a 4, then flipping it for a 3 when he leaves in free agency.

This comment is a far cry from your previous one suggesting Howard would do so well he would set a new market for TE's. If you had left that out of your previous post I would have seen it as more reasonable. But I would say odds are against getting a 3rd rounder if Howard left after one year, and that while flipping for a 3rd may technically be possible, I feel there is as much or more chance of flipping it for a 5th or 6th.. 3rd round is the highest level of compensatory pick a team can get, and it's a long shot that a TE averaging 400-500 receiving yards a season would be deemed worthy of that. Whether you believe Howard would get more targets than Jarwin or not, you have to assume Jarwin will get his fair share, and there are only so many balls to go around.

The Cowboys run a Te dominated Passing Attack and has had nothing but hype at the TE Position. Theyve had a chance to get 20 great tes in FA but have stuck with a bunch of scrubs who cant beat any good teams.

They never address TE in Free Agency and They suck at drafting Tes but they got this Team hard wired for a Gronk and Hernandez and they got a bunch of Flat Footed Blockers at the te position that need to go take a break on critical Passing plays. But the owner lets the Te dictate his role and play every passing snap instead of inserting a better slot wr or rb.

Jared cook, Jimmy graham 3 times, Julius Thomas, Gronk, etc etc etc.

If were not ever gonna Address the Te position in FA then change the stupid 2 te passing scheme.

The GM should be fired for not addressing The TIGHT END POSITION. 3-4 TDS A YEAR AGAINST THE GIANTS AND SKINS FOR A DECADE IS TRASH

Theres no Qb, Wrs or Rbs who can overcome that much dead weight. Get a Stud Te or change the scheme. Duh.

We got A zero chance of winning anything with Jarwin and Schultz out there.

Why not spend the money on a Staple player who can beat a top defender on occasion?

None in his last 8 games of last year.

5 of his 6 tds were against the Giants
1 of his 6 tds came from Philly banged up

All were in Meaningless games and none meant jack squat.

IF your te has no scoring or deep ball capabilities and no big play or game changing capabilities, then you bench him on downs and distances that you need that play.

I would. TEs often don't do much in their first couple of years and OJ is past that stage but is still young and has a lot of talent. Hurst cost the Falcons a pretty penny and I would rather have OJ than Hurst (plus he's younger). I know he has struggled with injuries but he was never hurt in college so at this point it feels more like a mild concern than a proven trend. Anyone can have a couple of injuries.
