Agreed .. but when you have flawed system I don't think putting big, dumb, slow players in key positions helps.

Not me I'm still pissed that Dex is gone in favor of guys like him. Yes he did play fairly well last season but he was playing for a new contract. What's he doing this year other than being abused and getting called out by both teammates and opponents for it?

Roy is a good player - he also happens to be the most overrated player on the team. He's good, he's just not what everyone thought he was going to be...............by a longshot.

Roy has all the talent in the world, but the reality of the situation is that he doesn't want to work hard to maximize it.

He is fat, lazy, slow, and stupid right now.

Someone needs to teach him some work ethic before his career passes him by.

Bill and Zim have to go, but some of these guys on the field simply can't play. Do we seriously believe we hit on all of these picks? You think we tell Spears not to rush the QB? Or tell Bradie not to cover a TE?

Williams is a liability. He is just not quick or fast. He can't play Cover 2 or cover anything. He is only a Rover. He can't even double effectively. No amount of coaching will cover these permanent warts.

Watching the game last night, I think I heard them say about three times "... and Williams took a bad angle." Deion Sanders said the LBs and safeties are horrid in space. When Deion starts makings sense, you know you're in trouble.

How many of you would trade Roy Williams for Troy Polamalu?

Troy Polamalu got burned by Jeremy Stevens multiple times in the Super Bowl... 1 of those plays was the EXACT SAME PLAY that he scored on Roy Williams. Its a pick play with the WR coming across Stevens and attempting to get in the way of the safety covering Stevens. They ran it against Polamalu in the Super Bowl and it worked, they ran it against Roy last night and it worked.

Bradie James is the only person to blame on his other TD. Roy was covering over the top helping Newman. What's pathetic is that Roy managed to make it to Stevens faster than Bradie James when Roy was covering someone else.

Roy is still a good player. How about getting a competent coordinator who knows how to cover up his deficiencies? How about getting a competent coordinator that understands that you don't put your best pass rusher in coverage so much, especially in obvious passing downs.

You can also throw in that Jerry and Bill need to throw in a competant and aggressive coordinator who can get adequate pressure on the opposing QB so our secondary is not hung out to dry for 5 to 7 seconds for 7/8 of the game.

If we can finally start to get some pressure on the QB, and get other teams to start forcing the ball on passing plays, our secondary could have a field day.

I don't care if it takes using the 3-4 for half the game, and the 4-3 for the other half. Just get it done. And get Mike Zimmer off this team. The guy is more suited for coaching college or high school kids.

now!He is the hole in the secondary ,and it is quite obvious for years now.Being a pro bowler we would get a nice exchange for him.He is bad in the 3-4,just horrible.Either that or go back to 4-3.or 4-6.

I think the hole is not Roy Williams. I think it's FS. If we had a dependable FS, and a better Dline, Roy may not be forced to have to sit back in coverage almost every down.

Btw...Roy lead the team w/ 5INTs.

Our 3-4 was vinilla by design, BP will not allow an aggressive coordinator on this team. BP makes the final decisions on the defensive calls. How many damn times has bp said " we can't afford mistakes and BLAH BLAH"

A true 3-4 coordinator gets pressure from his ront seven, ie; sd,pitt. bp will never change his ways and remains a stubborn antequated dinosaur.

NO! i mean NO! safety,corner or lb can cover for 5-8 seconds each play. Put pressure on a qb or here is a novel concept sack the FRiggin qb, and roy's inability to cover is diminished. Get out of that damn cover 2, get a real free saftey and roy will be back to his old ways of laying the wood and wr will think twice about going over the middle against us.

i agree with you but there are many intelligent posters on this board who have a blind spot for roy. the "we dont use roy correctly" argument seems to be in vogue these days. roy is who he is, a safety who cant cover, cant tackle, and is always looking for the big hit with his head down (which is why he ends up hitting our own players just as often as he hits the opposition).
