i have no doubt Peterson will be a great PRO. The only concern like others have said is durability issues.

Not really... he's not much of a threat as a receiver, he doesn't block at all, and he fumbled 17 times in 3 years at Oklahoma... all of those are legitimate issues too...

That said, he is a threat to score every time you hand him the ball, a blend of speed and power... if he could learn to run that way without standing up so straight, he might be able to shake the injury bug, but I don't know if you can ever turn him into a good blocker or receiver...

I he was healthy his whole college career he would be talked about as one of the greatest Running backs to come out of college in a LONG time.

And if my aunt had testicles, she'd be my uncle...

Romo, Ware, and Barber.

PULL THE TRIGGER!!! DRAFT PICKS AT ANY COST!!

No Thanks. We giving more up then we taking in.

I like the sound of staying at our pick and if Reggie Nelson, Jarvis Moss, Dwayne Jarrett, and Ted Ginn is off the board I say trade down unless Leon Hall is there at our pick.

Trade Down, acquire more picks and possibly acquire like another 2nd or 3rd round or get two seconds in this year draft and a first for next year and trade julius jones off for an early second round. Trust me it's going to be some steals in the second round to seventh.

Well his first injury was an ankle injury that just happens to players and the collarbone was a fluke injury after a touchdown. I just dont see how he gets that label.

Every year, it's something else...

The same can be said (or was said) about jones until he played all season last year.

And it's STILL a legitimate concern... that's PRECISELY why Parcells wanted to limit his carries, why he needed a Marion Barber...

His injuries are not hamstring or bad knees type injuries.

No, his injuries are the type that running backs who combine an upright running style with a power game get-- they take WAAAY too many big hits, and are prone to hurting shoulders and collarbones...

C'mon, ice, even I knew he was kidding when he said that...

Oh, it's not that I'm certain about his sexuality (never have cared enough to even speculate on that subject), but I'm pretty sure that if he WAS a swish, I'd be WAY down his date list...

If we go up to #3, we better be going after Calvin Johnson.

My thoughts exactly! The only player worth jumping that high imo.

I will tell you what it will take, the other team's GM who banged his head into the wall about 22 times in his way to make the trade with the Cowboys.

Seriously though, it will take a lot from the Cowboys to give up, and not just from this year but next as well. And for what? So we can pick a RB. Don't get me wrong, but AP is not worth all this trouble. I would LOVE to see him in the Cowboys uniform, but not with such a high price tag. I don't know why but almost everyone has given up on JJ. I think he will be fine next year, not that the combo wasn't good.

The fact is that he was sharing his carries with Barber who used to come in the 4th quarter after JJ has worn them out, or at the goal line at the end of the drive that JJ started. He had more than 1000 yards and could have had a lot of the easy TDs that BP just gave to Barber who was second to LT in total TD for a RB.

I am continueing to listen and read all the reports about Julius Jones getting traded and who we will get or what we will get in return. Now it is no secret that Adrian Peterson is THE back of the draft and please I dont want to hear all the BS about how he cant stay healthy. The guy is a stud and has been a stud since he was the top back coming out of high school. He has the size, speed, attitude and simply can do it all. Hell he is as good as a sure thing as Calvin Johnson!

Now with that said I would like to hear what would it take to trade up from our draft position of 22 to get to the number 3 spot to draft him.

Although Cleveland has sign Jamal Lewis and traded Droughns, they still could use a quality back in this new two back league. I say we trade Jones to Cleveland and a second and fifth round pick.

Or trade Jones and a Canty plus a third and fifth round pick.

I would like to hear what are some past trades that teams have done to move up 19 spots in the first round. I know it all goes by a point system but trading Jones and maybe another "B" player may get the deal done.

Jones is good but Peterson is that SPECIAL player like Emmitt and Dorsett.
Just keep the pick, and draft a wide receiver or a safety.

oh to be fair, i knew he was kidding around also. but instead of having fun w/it, he went into his normal excuse machine.

i just find it funny the most uptight one on the board would tell *me* to lighten up. : )

You may be suprised, but I agree with you. My original post was filled with fake enthusiasm and sarcasm to make a point. Trading up is rarely worth it. I like trading down as well, so that Dallas can increase it's number of second round picks, thereby reducing the likelihood of a bust due to injury. Also, there are many starters and several Pro-Bowlers in the second round every year. Why not multiply your picks in the second round???

I've read all the reports about Julius possibly being traded and I would guess for the right price it would be possible but the right price is during the draft not before the draft.

Remember if Oakland trades Moss to Green Bay for Rodgers then you can expect Oakland to take Cavin Johnson at WR. Then you have Detroit who everyone knows needs a QB but you can't rule them out trading down with someone like the Texans at that spot to take Peterson.

Yes, the Texans signed A. Green but this is two starting back league now and Peterson would certainly fit especially from a marketing eye. And for the Texans to trade up probably would cost them the 8th overall pick, 2nd round pick and David Carr. Yes the Texans need a QB, but eventually Plummer will be in camp with them for the 2007 season, don't buy the retirement thing, he and Kubiak are great friends, he will end up starting the season for the Texans.

Now if the Texans don't trade up and Detroit does take a QB then we would need to deal with Cleveland. For us to move up just with picks would take essentially our whole draft, and that isn't going to happen. Cleveland needs a RB even with Lewis but they also need a DE in their 3-4 and a NT and a #2 WR to go with Edwards. Spears was the 20th pick and DE are costing a fortune now. So I could see where we could trade say a Julius Jones and Marcus Spears with the 22nd pick for the #3 pick, in fact depending on how desparate the Browns are (and they are desparate with Creenel and Savage jobs on the line) you will get better value for Jones and Spears, enough maybe to throw in Crayton and not give up our first round.

Strange things happen on draft day and the trade value chart usually holds out until you start adding players to the mix. I think Buffalo would have gotten better value from the Ravens on draft day than they did. So if we are really going to trade Jones, I hope it is draft day and not before unless someone blows us away with great picks.

Dallas is not loaded with talent.

The funny part to me is that it would cost Dallas more to get the next Tomlinson than it cost the Chargers to get the original Tomlinson. They actually traded down to get LT and ended up with Brees as well.

Dallas' roster is much stronger and more talented than it has been at any time since the superbowl teams of the 90's. It is not, at this point, as strong as the superbowl teams were. Average players are not going to improve a good team as much as they will improve a bad team. I am not saying that a good player here or there will not impact this team to some degree, but to improve to any large extent, this team is going to have to replace "good" players that are on the team now, with "impact" players.

Trading up is going to make more and more sense as the team gets more talented. If we slightly improve three or four starters on this team it would not have anywhere the impact on this team that just adding Ladainian Tomlinson to this team would. (Yes. I realize that is NOT going to happen). I am saying that giving up quantity of picks to gain quality of picks makes more and more sense as the team improves.

I doubt that giving up two #1's and Julius Jones would be enough to get Peterson, but if it would, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Your sarcasm/humor is duly noted. The question is who is that directed toward?

most likely directed towards the overall general tendency some have to put madden into far too many "real world" situations.
