It's seemingly the talk of NFL podcasts and draft websites with plenty of teams likely to desire his services and us desperately in need of cap space. So, would you do it? If so what would it take? I think a high 2nd rounder would be enough given this draft class. He'll be 32 at the start of next season and can't have many more seasons left in the tank.

Nobody would give us a 2nd rounder.

I'd do it in a heartbeat for a high second, but that's not happening. I'd consider it for a high three.

A 3rd round pick?? Yeah that makes a lot of sense, trade one of the best TE's ever for another Gavin Escobar or some scrub DB.

Why would we trade our best offensive weapon? Nobody can be counted on more than witten.
Yea, his drop in the Philly game that ended up in the hands of a defender really showed how dependable he is.

The guy has lost more than a step. I love him and everything he's given this franchise, but if you can get a 2nd rounder for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Plus, when he's off the field, we could be way more explosive because we could have more speed, and Romo wouldn't force passes into him all the time.

Having said that, I don't see any way it happens.

Ya hes lost a step but he still gets open more than anybody on the team. Drops happen In the nfl quite a bit actually so im ok with that incident. Hes a sure hofer and one of the only players we can say that about for dallas in a long time. Hes never hurt and always plays.

Agreed. From an emotional standpoint, getting rid of Witten doesn't make any sense.

But you have to be realistic. Witten, like Ware and even Romo, has been part of the problem for years, if to a lesser extent. For some reason, he's always been given a free pass for the false starts and other mistakes he has made. If you can turn him into a second rounder...let's say Quarless from So Carolina...I'm doing that and not thinking twice about it. It would suck to see him in a different uni, but its a young man's game, and he's about as old a 32 year old as there is.

Nah. Unless you get a really good deal I'd say no. Now if Hanna and Escobar can look better then I'd be listening.

Escobar's probably worth more to the franchise long-term by the end of next season. Maybe not, but it'll be close.
