Trading Austin

In all my time here, I'm surprised this topic has never been broached. Always wondered if the Texas fans somehow looked down on the out of town guys.

BTW Don't know the local of every member here, but would like to. I do believe that the local fans tend to be a little more negative than the rest. And my theory on this is the negative local Dallas media poisions them a little.

I can only compare it to the Phila media and I can assure you it's like night and day. Up here its a lot of pom pom waving homers.

Down there, I can't understand it. It's like you guys have a few too many non local media guys who must have grown up hating the Cowboys and the rest who are from the area hate on Jerry for being an outsider.
I posted a thread some years ago polling where everyone was from. Majority is from out of Texas, but some have spent time in Texas, and then moved elsewhere.

The board is a pretty good mix of the fanbase.

You're from the area, aren't you? It's ok if that's classified info.

For me, I'm a fan of the expanded bio. Nothing to hide here. I want everyone to know anything they care to about me. Who I am, where I'm from and what I do.

What I love best about this site, is the interaction with people all over. That fascinates me. And I want to know where everyone lives and a little about their life.

I'm a Philly area guy. I relate to these people best and will probably never leave. But I do appreicate things about people from all over, especially North Texas.

I love to travel there because the people are so much more pleasant.:)

What would it take, if you were the GM of the Dallas Cowboys, to take Miles Austin off of your hands?

Vincent Jackson OR Eric Weddle and Marcus Mcneil and a 3rd.

Ngata and a 2nd.

two firsts

Eric Berry & Tambi Hali

I like this.

The key to a good trade involving Austin would be a high draft pick AND a proven starter.

Why trade him?? I know its just for conversation, but are you trading him because we have Dez? Why trade away playmakers, so we can look for more playmakers in the draft?

Yeah lets trade a guy who we've been molding the past 4 or so season who finally turned into a elite reciever for more draft picks since we're rebuilding!!!Get a grip dude!!!

I find this thought entertaining. I don't completely agree that a Miles Austin trade is not possible. I think a Dez Bryant trade is off the table.

Austin is a good receiver but he has regressed a bit. Conversely, Roy Williams looks much better than he ever has before. Most assume that the Cowboys would rid themselves of Roy after the season but who would trade for him? Finding someone interested in Austin is far more probable.

The question is, could you expect the same kind of production out of Roy Wiliams long term? At what price would you be willing to cut ties with Austin?

I would want a early first rounder or a mid first and a third.

I don't think he has regressed. Yes, his numbers are way off, but then look at the number of passes Romo and Kitna had to dump off due to the poor blocking from the O-line. In the last few games, Bryant no longer was a threat, so all the double teams shifted to Miles. Further, I don't think Bryant was that much of a threat in the passing game because he didn't know that many plays. He certainly had his highlights, but he wasn't a major piece of the offense. Roy Williams didn't draw any defenders away from Austin either.

I think Tony's quick release will get Miles back on track next year, especially with an improved line.

I don't think I could get as much as I would want, so it probably wouldn't happen.

I'd want a young star, with a good attitude, at a position of need. If not that, as crazy as it will sound, probably a 1st and a 2nd, or something along those lines. He's only 26, and I think he's too important to Dallas to toss away for scraps.

On the flip side, if I was talking to Dallas about Miles, and they told me they want my 1st and 2nd round pick, I'd probably tell them to pound sand.

Do you not remember how long it took to find ourselves good WR? TO, trade for Roy? Seriously why do people want to trade valuable players away as soon as we develop them?
Dez hasn't shown here can be healthy for for what season yet. Maybe and you need two goals WR on a team.

2) We just gave him a new deal that is apparently front loaded and will be cap freindly going forward.

Why did it take until post #59 for this to be brought up?
