Trading Austin

Honestly I wouldn't want to get rid of his deep threat. That would also keep Bryant working in the parts of the field he truly excels at with Austin still on the team. Actually I say keep Roy also. I really like this trio we have. Especially with Roy and Dez working the middle field, cause the trail off of Witten I think is going to start to become more obvious in the upcoming years here.

Only Cowboys fans would want to trade away the franchise QBs favorite WR.

No harm in asking a market-value question. The OP didn't say he wanted to trade Austin, just how much it would take for you to do it.

At a minimum, for me, it'd take a Bailey-Portis sort of trade. If the Cowboys could obtain a young Pro Bowl player in a position of greater need, I could see considering it.

But of course those types of trades rarely happen.

What would it take, if you were the GM of the Dallas Cowboys, to take Miles Austin off of your hands?

If the browns, bills, or panthers offer a 1st i might think on it. A lot of holes to fill on this team and we have a more natural playmaking receiver with Dez, then of course you'll have RoyW, Witten, John Phillips, Olgetree, and whoever we bring in. If Romo's any kind of elite talent he can win with those receivers.

I think Austin's a top 15 WR most def but if someone offers a high draft pick so we can draft a stud d/olineman or DB or they offer a already proven pro bowler at those positions you wouldn't think on that?

These types of posts are truly disheartening and not needed. Cowboys spend 3 years teaching him to become a top 10 NFL receiver and you want to trade him? Not crazy, just stupid.

Salary cap relief. Not sure what it will look like when we come out the other side of the current labor negotiation, but it is very likely the cap will be considerably smaller.

Though I kind of assume Jerry Jones is smart enough to have signed Austin to a locked-out season and smaller-cap friendly deal.

What would be the point of trading one of your best players? Isn't the point to MAINTAIN your best players?

I don't get it.

You don't get rid of your franchise QB's favorite WR for cap relief. It doesn't even cross your mind.

For years we had one diamond surrounded by trash.

NOW, we have an assortment of diamonds...... and............... you want to trade them?

That's why we are sitting in the top 10 ofthe draft and the Pats reign supreme.

He was trash tonight. Has been for for a while.. Certainly a huge disappointment this season.

I wouldnt trade him, he's too much of a talent to give up on.

I do think its time Garrett and Sherman kinda read him the riot act though. He's just had too many drops/concentration lapses this yr. Even if you absolve him of some blame for the pick 6 tonight, he still dropped several other balls.

Next year....

Bryant...Austin are the Cowboys starting WR's

Get rid of the anchor...Williams.
