Trent Richardson to the Colts

Trying to imitate the Herchel Walker deal? They're a few picks short though.

could be one of those trades that ends up being a plus for both teams. Richardson should thrive in the Colts system; and the Browns realize they need ammo to get a top QB since weedon is NOT the answer.

Great move by both teams but this is an obvious win for Indy. Are you getting me!! They got another young player to add to that talented roster. Indy shaping up to be the team of the future, them and Cincy have drafted well.

Stupid in my opinion. They need a QB. They are going to be at the top of the draft order it looks like. So next year they draft a top QB, and already have Trent....DUMB

Todd Gurley looks like a player.

Very true.

Tough? Maybe. Played injured. Explosive? He hasn't shown that aspect in his game yet. Career long of 32 yards and averages 3.5 yards per carry.

True also, I guess I meant that he's shown potential to be that, a top 5 pick at RB. I like the way Richardson runs though and he's had to earn every bit of that 3.5 ypc considering that half his games have come against the Ravens, Steelers, and a young ferocious Bengals D...I'd say he can be that guy. Just my opinion.

I actually like this trade.

I've seen a lot of complaints about Richardson looking for contact when he runs.

Browns will have a lot of picks next year.

Good trade for both teams but I think I like it more for Cleveland.

There is maybe 3 RBs really worth a 1st rounder in the entire league and Richardson isn't one of them.

Honestly think this is a yuge trade for the colts. Now they have a running game to go along with Andrew luck.

Let's see what Cleveland will take for Joe Thomas.

They're not going to trade a piece that protects a future QB. They wouldn't have traded Richardson at all if they weren't pretty sure that it would get them in position to get one of their top QB targets next year. And they obviously wouldn't have gotten the first for him if the Colts didn't think he helped them contend in the AFC right now.

Think of the best RBs in the league...

How many were first rounders?

This was a good move for Cleveland.

I really like this for the Colts. A future pick likely in the #16-23 range, and you get an elite RB prospect on just the 2nd year of his rookie contract (a big part of why the Colts were willing to part with a 1st). I mean, yeah, in general you don't want to be trading 1st round picks for a RB in today's NFL - but in this specific situation I think they've done well.

Basically they moved up 14-18 spots to the top of the 1st round, while only losing 1 year + an offseason. And admittedly, with RBs that 1st year is valuable, but I think Richardson will be good enough that his shelf life will be considerably longer than most.

And of course the Browns are happy to tank, unhappy with Weeden.

Still shocked about this trade, I couldn't believe it when I get the notification on my phone
