Good news for us is justin fields is having a phenomenal year so far as well. You may end up with two blue chip qbs in this class. Doubt the jets win multiple games this year. 2nd is probably the more realistic position, but could still come with a ton on value.

    I agree.

My concern is the length of any potential Dak contract. If he signs for 3 years: 1) our cap is decimated 2) we'll potentially be in the position of looking for a QB in 2024 with a first draft pick in the 20's/30's range.

I wonder when Jets take Lawrence, the Giants are obliged to take Fields at no. 2.

Remember so many were on the Tank for Tua bandwagon?

What if he sucks? We already have a solid QB in Dak. And honestly, with this line and where this team is headed. He won't even succeed here.

Very possible. I’m sure they would hate to have to trade with the cowboys in that position. Dallas may have to pull a Eli Manning type move and draft him knowing you’ll be moving him.

If the Cowboys are going to Tank for Lawerence and get rid of Dak, then they better be sure that Trevor Lawerence is going to be better than Dak. You don't get rid of Dak unless you are 100% sure that his replacement will be better than him.

On the other hand if they let Dak go and trade the farm for Lawerence, who ends up being a bust or not what he is hyped up to be, then none of the Cowboys fans who wanted this move to happen should be angry at the front office and Jerry for doing what they requested. Especially if Dak were to find success somewhere else.

You may have answered your own question, by using the word "SOLID", some want more out of their $40m franchise QB.

We're approaching a crossroad and there are many roads that we can take (especially now that we're potentially in-line to be able to draft a blue chip QB).

Every team ahead of us would take Lawrence.

Miami owns the Houston pick and it's TBD if Tua is their answer. First game was yesterday and he had 93 yards.

The initial improvement wouldnt be that the QB is better than Dak it'll be that we have a lot of CAP space in a year when it's expected a fair few players will be cut as teams try and get under the restricted cut.

Lets be honest Dak is good, but he's not Mahomes, Wilson etc and he's got one of the best offenses in the game.

They ARE NOT going to give up (or spend another 1st round pick) after after judging Tua on a maximum of 10 games.

Secondly, Miami (or Texans pick) isnt getting them Lawrence - Jets are going 0-16

umm the Jets will take Lawerence sorry but no way they think their current guy is the answer,

when team like AZ will fire a coach and trade away a 1st round top 10 QB after one yr to get better qb you bet the jets take Lawerence..

Exactly. The fact that people can’t see this blows my mind. This team is years away from anything and the only thing Dak Prescott will do is lift them to 8-8 while taking up 30% of the salary cap.

You don’t hesitate there - pick Trevor, trade Dak and rebuild for a few years then make your run. Blow it all up.

Because the alternative is to take your chances on Dak, trade down surround Dak with rookies and KMart specials. That’s not a successful super bowl formula.

That CAP space isn't going to help out the team much if Lawerence is a bust or doesn't end up as he is hyped up to be, which has happened before with top QB top picks. The Cowboys front office still better be sure that Lawerence is better than or at least good enough to make the Cowboys consistent playoff contenders. It's a risky move especially if the Cowboys plan to trade up to get him.

Either it could be the right move and Lawerence works out to make the Cowboys playoffs consistent contenders or he won't and the Cowboys will be right back to having to eventually look for another QB or hope that they can land a QB who has been playing as good as Dak has been. Knowing Cowboys fans, they'll be upset at the front office, even though the front office did what many Cowboys fans wanted them to do.

And if Lawerence is what he is hyped up to be then the Cowboys would have to pay him eventually, maybe even more money than Dak with how contracts keep going up. Does the same logic of paying Dak apply to paying Lawerence in that a team can't keep good players around if they have to pay the QB a big contract? What happens if the Cowboys don't win a Superbowl while Lawerence is still on a cheap contract?

Still better be sure that tanking for Lawerence is the correct move for the Cowboys future.

If we get the first pick, it is no guarantee that the Cowboys pick Lawrence. The Joneses love Dak and will have a hard time moving away from him. Plus Lawrence will cost at least 3 first round picks in a trade. That would be perfect as we would not have any salary cap space if we sign Dak long term.
