Trey Lance could be a star with Kellen Moore

Moore was an exceptional quarterback, and was raised by a coach. His offensive mindset is one of understanding how to get the most out of the quarterback position, and he knows how to design plays that help receivers find weak spots in the secondary.
Trey Lance has all of the tools to be a NFL quarterback, and he shows that he can and that he wants to be successful.
Paired with Moore the Trey Lance trade might become one of Jerry's better decisions. Moore could utilize all of Trey's skills and make him into the next great quarterback of the Cowboys.
It could be a great fit.

I've seen enough. He duped SF, and they dumped him like yesterdays trash.
Yes, you have seen enough, but who are you just like me nobody. San Francisco was in a hurry, that’s how a lot of talent is wasted in this league. You no longer have time to sit the bench when your first round pick never mind first overall. Waste of talent.
every time I see Trey Lance play he looks better. Every time and that’s what you’re supposed to do.

“Under Moore, the Cowboys were consistently one of the best offenses in football. The 35-year-old did plenty of good things during his time in Dallas, but arguably the best thing he did was get the most out of Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott had two of the best seasons of his nine-year career with Moore as his offensive coordinator. Even with an injury-shortened season in 2020 and undoubtedly the unluckiest year of his pro career in 2022, Prescott was one of the NFL’s best during the four years Moore was Dallas’ OC.”

As of today, Lance is the only threat to Daks job.

not a good thing for Dak Fans.

especially with the threat of a Post June cut in March 2026 or 2027.

Dak was not happy to see Big Mike leave. 8)

Really 58% completion %, 244 yards zero TD's is an improvement on what? Being run out of the league as one of the biggest busts in recent history?

He broke his hand and his leg.
The kid can't play, was terrible then, terrible now. That injury woke them up to what happens when you put an average QB on that team. They moved on because they realized their mistake.

this is true to a degree, but he was also moved to the 3rd stringer in SF and they brought in Darnold. if they didn't have patience and wanted to move forward, then why demote him to 3rd string and so quickly give up after having paid such a steep price to get him.

and then in Dallas, if he had any level of NFL talent, then he would have beaten out Rush this season. the fact that they didn't have confidence in even doing that, should tell us a lot. I mean, we were 3-5 and really bad, then why not put in Lance, and go with Rush?

the thing that intrigues people is always the same, he is athletic and can wow you with the athleticism. running ability. arm strength. but that's only 40% of NFL QB. how he understands the game, reads defenses, reacts, accuracy and where to go with the throws, etc. is 60% of it (give or take a few % points based on opinion). he hasn't shown any of the latter, thus the infatuation with Olympic ability is no longer reason to keep him.

he also has shown his ceiling is not that high. at best, he is a Geno smith. is that good enough reason to invest several years, time and money to end up with Geno smith and then complain we need better QB?

btw, I haven't seen him be much better. he looks the same as he did 3 years ago.

When do you think Lance will sign a deal with the Cowboys? He’s a free agent on March 12.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with the OP, but do the Eagles run the ball?
The Eagles were a run HEAVY, run FIRST team long before Moore's arrival. Moreover, Hurts threw for just 2903 yds on the season...18 TD/ 5 INT...65.5 QBR. He threw for just 131 yds against Green Bay. IOW, he's not exactly "lighting it up" with Moore behind him. It's more of the same we've seen from him over the years, with fewer interceptions. He had only one game in 2024 where he threw for over 300 yards.

What coach in history couldn't look competent and successful calling plays in an offense featuring the best running back, the best receiving corp, a top ten quarterback and arguably the best offensive line?

Steven A. Smith could run that offense and look like a successful offensive coordinator. Moore is just going along for the ride.
I say again. The Eagles were a run heavy, run first team long before Moore arrived. That philosophy has not changed much. Hurts threw for just 2903 (18 TD/ 5 INT) in 2024. Hurts threw for +300 yds only ONCE in 2024. He ran for 15 TDs (630 yds on 150 carries rushing). "Moore" of the same I'd say. You really don't want Hurts throwing 40 and 50 times a game. That's not where he excels, which is why they could be in trouble against a team like Detroit, who could turn the game into a shoot-out...forcing them to throw and abandon the run.

Don't let them get to you my friend. We have, sadly, a handful of people here that need to insult and ridicule other GOOD people here to enrich their lives. It's sad, but humans will human. There's always THAT guy in the room.

What's your opinion of the people here who claim to know more about evaluating NFL quarterback talent than NFL scouts, coaches and GMs?

Do you believe those GOOD people or THAT guy in the room really know more about evaluating NFL quarterback talent than NFL scouts, coaches and GMs?
