The Wilson pick out of Jets town was a mistake . Realistically Wilson and Lance were third fourth rounders . Once Jerry extends Dak Lance will have cost Dallas a 4th for one yr of back up service after having no PT in 23 before he leaves in 25.

You put Minshew on Dallas and they are making the playoffs. Like Dak though he would fold in the playoffs.

Dak has had 8, 8 years well then lance hasn’t even had one. Lance hasn’t played one season worth of NFL football to compare. He’s only played 2 games with the first team offense he actually practiced with. He started 4 count them 4 games..Dak had that many games good or bad by 4 games into his rookie year. Trey’s game log looks like this intermittent his rookie year coming in for an injured garapollo second half of week four making week five and week seventeen the only starts he had. He didn’t even practice with first team, so no chemistry was built with wr, etc. That’s no way to even compare one vs the other, he had no chemistry those two games. Then in 2022, year 2 he got injured 2 games into the season, but let’s count it as another year, even though we all give Dak a pass on his injured ankle year. 2023 makes 3 years but he didn’t play and wasn’t expected to bc he had no preseason with the cowboys and he was brought in as a project. Now we count that as year 3.lol. What we are comparing is someone we don’t know if he’s a Ryan Leaf, Jamar Russell, etc bc he hasn’t had that full season or two to lose every game and show he’s not capable. He needs time, real game time with players he has built chemistry(timing with) to truly compare. The question becomes are we willing to pay lance a lower tier number that he would get if drafted in third or fourth round or go pay another third or fourth rd pick or option three put that money towards a real first rd pick that we plan on starting and committing too? He’s a rookie with minimal nfl experience, not four years. The comparison is do we believe he is worth a mid tier contract and commit to taking a real chance(leaf, Russel, Z wilson, etc) chance. Are we sure we will go 3-15 with him or if he goes 8-8 is every good with giving him a second year to improve on it? Dak looked like pure trash in 2018, passing yards 170 in first game loss, 160 in second week, which was won the ground, week three 168, week four 255, week five 208. What I’m saying is in those four games we should’ve cut Dak bc he was absolute trash. Give Lance 18 games and sit Dak who cares we know this isn’t a Super Bowl year and we know what we have with Dak, he’s a regular season princess that can’t overcome the pressure of a big game. Let the rest of the nfl figure out if they want to pay him, also he’s more likely to ask for a trade which we will get something for him instead of letting him walk for free. Just one of many options but it is an option nonetheless.
wow, is Dak on your mind? so you complain about Dak having been given 8 years and now want to give Lance what? 8 year!!! why.

so what he hasn't started, blah blah blah. its not about fairness. its about Football. Like I said, if he was a 7th round pick people would have already walked away and he would be out of the league. the only, the ONLY reason he is still getting a chance is because of his draft status. because nothing before garnered him to be a top 5 pick and one stupid GM did it, paid a lot, fell in love with the Olympic athlete that he is. a running back playing QB and the rest is history.

Love sat on the bench for 4 years and, he did a lot better in pre-seasons games he played. he lead his team to playoffs. Lance in 4 years has regressed.

but now, everyone is feeling sorry for someone who at best. I mean AT BEST would be just another Dak, yet here we are you wrote war and peace complaining about Dak!!! yet you want to replace him...with someone like him

and btw, he is not under contract for 2025.

like I said, this is not about comparing Dak to Lance...this is evaluating what Lance is and could be as a QB. end of story. stop thinking about Dak 365x24x7x60x60.....

So you think Trey has had the same quality 4 years as ...say dak? Or even Cooper?

Like stability, consistent coaching, ...regular playing time.
this isn't about comparing Dak vs. Lance. or Rush vs. Lance. this is about evaluating Lance and what he could be. so stop. just stop making everything about Dak. you all have been in this Dak mode for so long you can't get out of it.

and as I have said. if he was a 7th round pick, he would have been out of the league long ago. but he was way over drafted, because a GM fell in love with the olympic athlete that he is, a RB playing QB and the rest is history.

we are not a charity. we are not here to resurrect Lance's career. or to be fair to Lance. that's your sentimental emotional side speaking. Lance in 4 years has shown nada. in fact one can argue he has regressed in some ways or has made zero progress.

The point wasn't about dak versus trey....so stop making it about that.

It's about the qualities of treys 1st years. He's not had consistent solid play or coaching compared to other younger players.

Maybe it's all he needs.

Some Cowboys fans believe the team should start Trey Lance and pick a QB high in the draft if the Lance experiment causes the Cowboys to lose a lot of games. But if some are willing to put that much faith in the potential they believe Lance has. Would they also be willing to sacrifice drafting a QB and have the FO spend that top 5-10 pick on another position to help build a top around Lance?

Because if some fans believe that much in Lance's potential, then he would need more than one year as a full time starter to fully develop and prove himself. At least when it comes to the type of QB we really need to get the Cowboys to a Super Bowl. So the true test is can Lance do enough to convince the FO that it's worth giving him the starting job for the next 2 or 3 seasons at least. And do enough to convince fans that he is better than the top QB prospects who will be going into the draft for the next 2 or 3 years plus. Of course if Lance can come out and lead the Cowboys to as many wins as Dak has, then the scenario of the Joneses having to pick between putting their future on Lance or drafting a QB with their top 5 pick won't happen.
goodpoints.

if these same fans believe we have a good team, enough to make a run and Dak can't take advantage and make run, then Lance minimally should be able to get the team to playoffs and be competitive. if he is not, then its just an experiment, wasting a year to just give him some playing time experience, hoping..only hoping he turns out.

now, ask those fans the question. is this team good enough to make a run? and watch them spin because they will be caught between a rock and a hard place wanting to diss dak, but defend Lance at the same time

If there was no intention to look further at him, then why all the resources so far into rebuilding? I think the Cowboys have a plan, you know Jerry does....so, we will have to wait and see. At least it begs a discussion
they have no plan. they didn't even pick up his 5th year option, which means he is an outright FA next year. if they have a plan and want him, then they have to compete against 31 other teams for his services.

There's no Trey over Dallas, unlike the Dakvidians. There's let's hope he can be the next QB because the current one is an all time playoff failure and already wasted one large long term deal.

That's pro-Dallas. But you'll never get that.

Blab away you're ignored
it actually is Trey over Dallas fans...and you might be in that cult already.

what's with all the defense of Lance then?

ignore me if you want. facts are facts.

Lance mobility sets him apart from Dak.

But he needs to work on mechanics, study film

Needs a TE to ad lib with when he buys time

so you are impressed by him being a RB, but not him as a QB....right?
LOL
Well at least if he panics like Dak, he has a chance to roll outside ....and maybe create

Vrs.....letting Nose Tackles catching Dak from behind at 5.8 speed

and Brady had cement shoes, yet he made throws. Manning was fleet of foot and he made throws. and I can go on with the list of QBs who don't run around like a RB pretending to be QBs and make throws. his job is not to RUN. his job is to stand in pocket and read defense and make throws. he struggles with that. mightily I might add
